    What oil are you running?

Exactly. I use it every oil change, along with the same brand of full synthetic 10W-40 oil - works great.

    RVR suspension, handling and equipment

Hey Leon: My set of 4 Cobra Springs (mentioned on pages 4-5 of this thread: http://www.4gtuner.com/topic/15976-suspension-options-need-some-information/ and here's the website catalogue page: http://cobrasprings.co.nz/catalogue/mitsubishi/rvr/2806) is about to become available (found a tuner...

What a recommended spark plug to be used in the rvr 4g63t

Well, I have the holes just about as clean as I can get them without removing the head, so if that's the case, it would indicate that there's oil coming from somewhere that shouldn't be there, right? As you noted from the condition of the tips, I really don't think it's unburned combustion...

What a recommended spark plug to be used in the rvr 4g63t

Had them torqued at 25 lb-ft (upped it to 28 when I reinstalled them, thinking along those lines), so I don't think looseness was the issue. Very slight fuel smell at the tips.

What a recommended spark plug to be used in the rvr 4g63t

Reading through this thread got me pulling my plugs to check them out. I'm running Denso IW22 (iridiums, heat range equivalent to NGK BPR7EIX) in a totally unmodified RVR HSGR motor, 188,000 kms., and the plugs have 8,000 kms. of use. The motor seems to idle fine (a bit low sometimes, but I...

    Information from Complete RVR

Really sorry to hear about both the loss of the RVR and the closing of the site, Dan. Thanks for all the help to me personally and all the enthusiasm contributed to the community in all things RVR, not to mention the tech help from the site. Here's hoping the "bug" bites you again soon, and...

    Removing the RVR front bumper

Sorry, don't have photos or step by step, but as I remember from taking mine off the HSG-R, there are 2 10mm hex head bolts fastening it up top (horizontal, towards the top of the radiator), and 2 more hidden ones at the two extreme corners, up inside the black plastic shrouds that form the...

    MAF, O2 sensors

Am going to clean the mass air flow sensor and replace the oxygen sensor (as well as have the injectors cleaned and have the timing checked; already did plugs, leads) in further effort to recover a least a bit of fuel economy - only getting 7km/l, conservative driving (yes, yes, I know, people...

    Best Front Pads to use?

Don't know about long term, as I've only had them on about 1000km, but EBC Yellowstuff are spectacular (rec. by EBC for both street and light track use). My HSG-R wears them on all four (DP4954R front, DP4738R rear), and the regular braking performance improved markedly (not just in distance...

    Wheel studs

Right on, Dougmo - found it today, already installed. One more confirmation: 45mm is the overall length of the bolt, right (not just the measurement of the threaded portion)? I ask because apparently the parts shop sold me the wrong length (about 63-64mm overall) in spite of the fact that I...

    Wheel studs

Hey, anyone know the exact specs for the factory original rear wheel studs for the HSG-R? The brainiacs at the brake/alignment shop cross-threaded one of my lugnuts and it twisted the stud right off when I was removing the wheel later (to paint the calipers). I think it's M12-1.5x45mm; can...

    Knocking noise in front suspension

Changed the brake pads, had the brake system serviced, and the knock (the one I reported on above) was gone when I got her back. So, new strut mounts, new shocks, new pads, and everything tightened, lubed, etc. I'm sure the bushes will go next :P

    Suspension options... Need some information

I feel your pain - as far as I know, I have the only HSG R in Chile, and perhaps in South America! Won't even bother going into the parts sourcing problems; suffice to say I am going to have to open my own retail shop soon just to sell all the non-compatible parts I've bought based on...

    Knocking noise in front suspension

If CDJ84 is talking about the strut top mounts, that was my issue as well - one was shot, and the other wasn't far behind (@170k km). I replaced them both, and that eliminated what sounded much like the knocking that EVO-00X is dealing with. Now (nearing 180k), I've got a new similar sound...

    RVR Oil Filters

Spark plug follow-up: the engine started to run progressively rougher - nothing dramatic or very noticeable (except to an obsessive-compulsive owner), but enough to make me unhappy. I cleaned up the Denso Iridiums (IW22) that had been installed previously, reinstalled them, and now it's running...

    RVR Oil Filters

Got (and tested) another couple of compatible oil filter part numbers: Purolator L14459 Mann 818/8 Although, I have to add that neither appear to be a very high-quality build for high-performance applications (i.e.: use only if nothing else is available); I'm really just adding this for...

    offset for wheels on rvr's?

I really like my Cobra Springs, but it depends on how radical on height/performance you want to get (I would consider these "moderate" on both; dropped the HSG-R about 30mm from factory height, and cost NZ$400 for the set of 4): http://cobrasprings.co.nz/catalogue/mitsubishi/rvr/2806 Maybe...

    Suspension options... Need some information

Okay - I finally got everything released from Customs and installed. This includes the set of new KYB Excel-Gs shocks and struts (a big Thank You to Dan), the set of new Cobra Springs (CCFL-238 (front), CCRL-239 (rear); a big Thanks to Mark at Cobra, and to4's recommendation), 4 new 17X7 Xtatik...

    Suspension options... Need some information

I'd trade my new Excel-Gs (that I'm expecting to finally have in my hands on Tuesday, if Chilean Customs will just get up off of them) for those SRs right away, as 30-35mm is exactly how much the Cobra Springs (that I am hoping to be notified of by Customs the following week) are supposed to...

    Rim width/offset

Thanks for the response, Rockabilly. Listen, the matter of the springs is a forgone conclusion - they are probably already in the country; I'm just waiting for Customs to advise me - so, is there any way to mechanically compensate/adjust for the negative camber resulting from the lowered rear...
