Dear GOD NO! lol
Seriously though... what does need to be done to get the ball rolling on something like this? I have NO clue at all...
Obviously Vic would be the place to hold it as that is where most of the members are based but what about accomodation for out of staters etc.
When and where would it be held.
Who would be on the organizing committee?
These are all questions which need to be addressed.

Jon, you said before that you wanted to serve the forum somehow? Would you want to be part of this?

Okies from my perspective with being involved in this. This is what would need to occur:

Whatever this club is called, lets call it T4G now.. will need to build a sub committee that runs events, in turn this committee will probably need some gophers for little jobs.

The main thing is to get the knowledge out to the other mitsubishi commnunities/proton/starions/cordias etc.. that we will be holding an event.

Pick a time, venue and suitable date, somewhere easy to get to and from. We will need the gophers to liase with members and also other forums to gather up lots of interests.

What you want is to make this a massive thing, make everyone who has a 4G motor in their car feel like they are wanted and that it would be the best thing to be involved with this 'mega event' where make and model will not stipulate how many 'friends' you have.

I would be interested in helping run/organise it but at the moment i feel like im being hassled by afew members. Sort that out and maybe i might come to the party.

Dont want to be negative guys but I think the amount of participation shown by this forum in both participation and spectators at this years nats (which was held in the backyard of the majority of t4g members) is a fairly good indication to suggest that a 4g nats will never happen.

4G nats will happen, Evolution nats is different its geared to evolutions.. if u have a 4G anything nats, it will be massive it will rein supreme over anything evolution oz has ever done.. mark my words.. but u will need to spend time planning it and also figure out how ur going to attatck this venture because trust me i can see it being massive its it is done correctly!!!

i dont understand?

i just wound up in this thread from the link posted in the "4GTuner Discussion" thread.

This ones named "4G Nats Discussion", does that mean 4GTuner.com is going to be 4GNats.com?

Thanks for the heads up this time, great to see the admin/mod time being transparent and giving everyone the heads up!

So when will you guys start orgainising Club track days?? and fill a track with Gsr's & E1-3's thats what Is needed (in moving forward) imho and call it Australian GSR Nationals

^^^ Try reading the first post on the first page of this thread mate. This is a completely different topic hence the reason for it being split.

The trackdays are already in progress.

Highway patrol in Vic is insanely anal about everything. (3kmh over limit? DEALBREAKER)

As Jonson said, If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

That is all.

</nazi hat>

Its mostly reasons like this shit talking thread that people dont stay here on the board,
and how could you blame them at all this board lacks maturity and direction full stop.

Probably 1 of the main reasons why people dont stay here and go to alternative boards is
all due to Jon's attitude that tarnishes this board.

Now wasn't this the reason he set it up in the first place?

No offence but it was better here when you were back in your little hole Johnny boy
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

ok i got to page 3 and gave up reading the rest, soooo back on topic about the 4g/evo nats.

isnt there already a evo nats? and gsr's vr4's etc arent allowed, why dont we just try and get them to allow us with gsr's and vr4's entry? Get someone to have a sit down with whoever runs the evo nats (i would be more than happy to do this) and present our case, get a list of cars/mods that would enter and show them how it could improve their show - more entrants means more revenue from entry fees and more spectators as the event grows in size. Get something in writing to show them how we want them to amend their rules of entry.

we need to decide what we would want to take from this forum to them

cc gsr's 1.8 or 2.0 awd turbo only - maybe they will only accept 2.0L converted gsr's with evo kits, ie: evo replicas.
vr4 galants awd turbo only
cc coupe 2.0L awd turbo only

if we at 4gTuner were to make our own nats, who would come? can people post your name on a list, maybe 15 people have posted in this thread alone, we would need at least 50 entrants id say to make our own nats. i dont think we have enough people to make 2 mitsu based nats work, so i suggest we try and make it into the evo nats that already exist.

im all for an early evo/gsr nats as im pretty sure we will lose to the newer evos in all the motokana events lol but we will flog them in the drag racing.

All valid points Adrian.
EvoOz runs the Evo Nats, hence the title Evo Nats, as (generally) only Evo's are allowed to enter.
That is their rule, and we fully respect that.
However, we were proposing the idea of a 4G Nats, whereby anything 4G powered will be allowed to enter.
Some might say we'd attract allsorts, but in hindsight, there wouldnt be many 1.5l carby's taking their car to a track.
I see what you mean about approaching them about this, I believe this has been done numerous times, without success, hence the proposal for our own event, but perhaps that's something we can look at doing this in the future.

I personally think that we should allow anything that has a 4G in it to participate in whatever goes on. Lets not think about the evonats and think about the 4G nats, we could make this the biggest mitsubishi/ 4G event EVER held in australia.

If it is done correctly you will unite all 4G powered cars into the one big event which could mean over 2000 cars will show up to an event with only 70-100 car field.

Think of it like easternats/springnats etc.. But with just 4G powered cars.

Track racing
Go to Whoa
Motorkhana
Stampede

Think outside the box.. if you guys want to make a mark on the mitsubishi/ 4g community.. think big think massive... and as i said if you guys do this right evonats will be nothing compared to 4G nats..

Jon

my only concern is who has the balls to steup up to the plate and make this thing happen, it wont happen by itself it will take months of planning, months of community work..

You need someone who is well known and has repal with alot of other clubs. Someone who is highly regarded amongst the mitsubishi community....

Until you find that someone this will all be just a dream.

IF THIS IS DONE RIGHT TRUST ME.. IT WILL BE THE BIGGEST MITSUBISHI EVENT EVER AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY TROUBLE GETTING TMR/MITSUBISHI AND SPONSORS SUPPORT.......

im looking forward to see what happens out of this.. cos normally its all talk and no action but i hope i am wrong this time and something does happen!

just think of it from a marketing point of view, would you pay to watch sonatas racing excels and satrias? and sigmas etc... they might be fast cars with engine conversions etc but yeah.

what about a mitsubishi nationals? where all mitsu powered vehicles could enter, then we could see 3000gt's evo's fto's plus your sigmas and satrias and hyundais? its been done with toyota, they have the toyota nationals and rules are it must be toyota powered so a rx7 with a 2jz could enter etc or 1jz powered s13's etc

I understand your point of view.. but im wondering if you could ever get 100 GSR/VR4s/Evos on the track at the one time? seriously we have enuff trouble trying to get 40 cars to a cruise/meet.

Merge all the clubs, make it big make it a long weekend (sat/sun) call it the 4G nats.. make more events then just track racing... ppl wanna test out their driving abilities with go to whoa and all that.. itll b fun.....

My suggestions Sandown / Easternats weekend (or what use to be) probably wont happen this year.. but next year for sure :)

What im saying is dont think 100 cars... think 2000 cars.. it can happen! If somones makes it happen :)

Jon

i got a 3.5yr ban for suggesting this

For safety reasons the 4g nats would have to be restricted to forced induction or N/A w/dynosheets to prove they have competitive racepace. Otherwise it would simply be too hard to place the vehicles in a grouping for time trials. You'd ideally be looking for a power to weight ratio of over 125kw per tonne.

I have a meeting about this with some members of this forum coming up next week. If you're in melbourne (or can be) and seriously, SERIOUSLY interested in making this happen, PM me. We will meet next Wednesday evening for dinner and discussions.

Also, the event will be far more likely to be at Winton or Calder. Sandown have too many restrictions to make it viable. Especially including their Exhaust noise restriction which I know for a fact would invalidate just about every modified vehicle in this entire community.

Go you good thing.. unfortunately due to work related issues cos i work nightshifts i wont beable to make it.. however maybe you should keep a minutes of meeting and post it on the site once your done so people who couldnt be there could also find out what happened at the meeting.

In regards to noise regulations, i highly doubt that would effect anyone related to this event because we dont have v8s with dropped pipes... but i will find this out next week because a lady that works at sandown raceway comes into my work for breaky every morning.

Too big

Hey guys,

Having some experience in setting this stuff up I suggest the option of making it a Mitsubishi thing. There can be a wider range of support given through sponsorships with an all encompassing Mitsubishi nationals! I personally would like to see some 8G Vr-4's going for it over the 4G units etc.

If you type caste your event to 4G powered cars you may be missing out on a whole lotta potential to fill in numbers if needed.

It's Evo-Oz's right to narrow caste their demographic, whilst they have a good following! The event is big enough to organise without paid help and they do a good job it.

Would like to say but I would be putting my track car into the event provided it is not too expensive and the Legnum maybe in a show and shine!

Good on you guys for turning this into a positive and not listening to Siesta's Rantings I think he really did have his hand on his Front bar!!!! :) ( time for a kebab maybe )LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL ROFL ROFL!!!!

You're coming on wednesday then bob?

Sandown requires trackday participants to be 70 something decibels at 30 metres. Versus Calder/Winton 96 Db at the same distance due to local council regulations. Many of the vehicles in this community are 89-95 Db at 5 metres and whilst yes it's an exponential scale, it still won't fall within noise regulations. And you need to assume people won't track their cars with the exhaust silencers still in.

The more cars you have, the less track time you have. Need to find a middle ground to make it financially viable for both forum and competitors.
Not sure but might have to be CAMS affiliated to host track days? There needs to be an initial outlay for track hire, permits, timers, fire'ees, ambos.
I suggest whoever is going to organise it get in contact with MGEC (mitsubishi GSR/Evo club) here in SA. They have almost perfected time attack days at Mallala, always put on a fun and professional day. They might be willing to share some tips with you guys.

Remember, you have to crawl before you can walk.
