Would the power steering oil even get that hot? like that "cooler" will just bring the power steering fluid up to the coolant temp of 80-90 degrees, I dunno but it seems to me like a bad idea.

bloody oath it does rich,it can get very hot indeed.
p/s is very very high pressure

quick google...

Power steering pump pressure can exceed 1000 psi. This is enough pressure to cause serious eye injury.

make sure you wear eye protection boys, work safe is on the hunt ;)

Is that black plug on th bottom right for the temp sender?

I didn't realsie my GSR radiator had one today until I stuck my head under there.

I ended up getting one of the golpher ones, they are decent quality.

Didn't want it polished, so cleaned it up and painted it.

power steer fluid gets very hot. just like any hydrolic type fluid does.
also and fluid or air that has been compressed increases in tempreture. i am not sure what temps powersteer fluid gets to in a normal car, but plumbing it throught the rad isnt that bad of an idea(temps depending) as water is a much more efficent cooler than air.
but i have seen heaps of track and drift cars upgrade the power steer loop to a trans cooler or proper oil cooler to help this. many drift cars do it being held on or near lock at high eng rpm.

or is it one of the fans from supercheap auto? I ended up getting one of them seems very similar to the davies craig and also pumps out some air! seem good for the price..

I ended up getting an ASI radiator.. very happy with it.. fit well (except the stock brackets didnt quite line up, but im going to make some new ones anyway.

I took it out weekend before lastm but cant comment on it the car was any cooler, as a damaged/leaking headgasket mean the car was overheating big time anyway..

Peasoup, just be careful with thoes pull though ties to secure the fan to the radiator, te seemed to be quite sturdy, however after a few stages all bar one had all broken off and the fan was flappin around between the rad and the turbo, ofcourse it would be a bit rougher in the rally car, but worth keeping an eye on..

Yep, SPAL 13" going by the size, the 14inch was a tiny bit too large, spewin. It was 24mm thinner than Davis Craig, plus you can order as a puller, not have to switch the fan blade around.

Thanks for the heads up!, It didn't come with any mounting hardware and most just weld tabs on so that can mount it properly, I thought I will keep close eye on it and if it looks like any of them show sings of wear, I will pull it out and get some proper brackets made. Those cable tie style mounts are the Craig Davies ones. This car does bugger all kms, so it hopefully wont be a problem.

Nope they dont... Golpher do though.
These ones have that ugly chain for the radiator cap like the ASI ones do. Looking at the bungs welded in it, it's definitely an ASI radiator being sold under the J&P banner.

Yeh, theres the plastic screw out drain plug too, looks like an ASI to me.
So for GSR's golpher would be the best option since it has the temp sensor provision.

Dean is this for a aftermarket sensor (autometer gauge) or a factory sensor????
how much more room does it take between turbo and raidator???

thinking of getting one of theses

the asi ones I have seen have a brass drain.
mine leaked as it picked up the o ring so I had a dash 6
fitting welded on instead

No mate, thats for the factory GSR sensor. It screws into the GSR radiator, which the ASI radiator doesnt have provision for.
It does take probably an additional 25mm or so, therefore you will have to run a slimline fan with it to clear the turbo etc.
As per here.

George - there must have been 2 ASI models then? mine definitely has a plastic plug.

so do the golpher ones bolt straight up to a gsr? i enquired about a golpher one through michael auto parts and they said there is 3 different sizes. Are the evo1-3 hoses as seen on ebay able to fit a gsr aswell?
