Alloy Racing Radiators

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

No, radiator hoses are different. Evo will not fit on GSR.
With the golpher, just make sure it has the screw in for the stock GSR radiator sensor.
If the golpher is an Evo specific radiator it will not have one.

just ring michael on the contact number on the website (michael auto parts) and tell him what your after so u get the right one, he knows his stuff

im sure it was said on here before i cant see it in the thread.. what rad cap (brand, style)should i use on the ASI rad.. ive just installed one into my gsr, cos it was just sitting there.. where do i get it from.. someone like super cheap?

Whoever buys an ASI, do something about the shitty plastic drain plug + washer.
When it fails on you on the way to work it isnt fun

I installed a Golpher radiator into my car last week, along with a Calibre 12" fan and Ralliart thermostat, going really well so far and looks like it is pretty decent quality.
About the plastic drain plug, is it just that the ASI one is no good? The plastic drain plug that came on my Golpher radiator looks pretty much the same as the standard plug from the standard plastic tank radiator. But I notice that the aluminium radiators get pretty hot to the touch, this is probably going to cause problems with plastic drain plugs?

Yeh they do get quite hot, whether thats the reason for the failure im not too sure, but mine was slowly leaking from that area.
Was it you Dougmo that welded the drain plug closed? I might do the same.
I dont like the look of it.

mine had a brass tap in it and the seal crapped out.

I welded on a -6 fitting and used a matching alloy cap.

Also make sure you have a decent radiator cap on it too.

other than that they are fine.

depend if you do want to buy a new cooler or just get a new top tank GSR and evo top tanks are available here and are cheaper I had after market rad for a while and sold it on and kept evo one instead no cooling issue's but did the top tank around 2 years ago.

If I was to buy 1 a Koyo over the Chinese junk they never seem to get the quality, fitment and finish.

I'd have to agree with John.
The ASI i have is not too bad, does the job, although it isnt too thick on the welds, and i've also had trouble with the rubber washer where the drain plug goes, as the aluminium gets quite hot and melts it.
I've since rectified this, but if I had've known earlier would've just paid the extra in the beginning and gone with the Koyo.
Also my mounting points do not match up flush with the stock mounting points, they are are on a slight angle.
Also dont forget you might need to get a slim line fan so it doesnt foul on the turbo.

Place to get the top tanks?

The ones we have been getting to replace split or damaged top or bottom tanks on Gsr's and evo's radiators they have all come from http://adrad.com.au/automotive/
They do not supply top or bottom tanks direct to the public but this is who our radiator repairer gets them from.
