One of my mates believes his AU XR8 can rape my GSR over the quarter mile.

His car has about 240rwkw pod filter, exhaust, and stall converter.
Weighs bout 1400kg, i think.

My car has 173awkw, pod, bigger intercooler, exhaust.
Weighs bout 1000kg.

Who would win?
Should i have him at the launch?

He wants to go to Heathcote and try there.

well hard to say .. i remember I beat my mates XR8 ute (BA series II). he had 200 or thereabouts at the rears with air filter and full exhaust, and i only had about 150 at all 4 (old set up - stock 2L with 14b).

launch is the major advantage.. the race was short from a set of lights though , but nonetheless, i was in front

another friend with BA GTP reckons he'll rip me as well.. but i never argue though.. i just laugh and muck around with them and then always ask them the big question:

"we should try out to see who goes better at the creek" (eastern creek dragway)

that way youre not talking it up... and if you do hammer him at least you'll have paper proof and everyone watching... then they'll shut up forever lol

he always made excuses never to go to the drag strip though...

i think regardless of that power your friend is running... they have weight factor, and traction factor.. you have a very good chance , but again.. im biased

Well his car weighs 40 percent more and has 40 percent more power.. then again you have traction. Isn't power to weight an exponential graph, ie, if the weight is double you need a square of the power (or something to that effect).

If your car weighs 1000kg, you should stomp him, I reckon.

A GSR tipps the scales at 1300kg no driver.

I was going to say, that must be one light car!!

bring him to heathcote, see how he goes

I got my money on the mitsubishi- as long as he's running street tyres

The figure I have is 1170kg for a gsr (as stated on auto.vl.ru)

Pretty sure a BA falcon would be somewhere between 1700-1900kg.

i weighed my evo 1260kg no driver
i weighed my gsr 1240kg no driver

i think the weights quoted are probably 'dry'.. add all the fluids and it would pick up near 100kg!

Dont forget the advantage of the "all in power" delivery as you come on boost...
i rekon you'll have him..until the top of third anyway....then it may close up....not sure about the AU..but the BA/BF are disgustingly heavy..even the GTP isnt exceptionally quick due to the weight..i dont even think a GTP would see mid 13's..i might be wrong though...I think they are up around the 1850-1900 Kg and thats alot of weight to overcome.

And withyour setup @ 173 awkw youd have to be dipping high 12's with a good run wouldnt you?
Money's with mitsi. :D

Taken from page 12-57 of the Mitsubishi Lancer
operator's manual (that I got with my GSR):

GSR Turbo manual-
Kerb mass 1190kg (with full tank of fuel)

Add the following mass if equiped with options:
Air conditioning = +20kg
Power steering = +6kg
Tow bar = +15kg
ABS +17kg

If that is all he has done to his car then it is pretty much impossible that he has 240rwkw.
Std AUxr8's came from the factory with about 180kw's at the motor.
You should win if that is the case!

thats what i thought but then he said he has had it retuned.
i dnt believe him, unless i see proof.

vicroads believe my car weighs 1000kg, (on the rego sticker)

i thought it was more like 1100kg-1200kg wif fuel oil n driver.

thanks guys

I weighed my car with the following:

1993 Lancer GSR
No driver
3/4 tank of fuel
Evo 1 Engine
GSR Driveline gearbox etc still stock
Upgraded FMIC
3" Exhaust
TD06 turbo
2*12 subs with 2 amps
On 17's

And it weighed 1205kgs

look let this guy talk it up, but dont argue back much. you have to get him to the point of thinking he's the man.. then gotta convince him to take it to the strip so you can ultimately embarass him. make sure all yours/his mates come for the night...

mmmm

Let me get this right. He claims to have 240rwkw?
The last lot of AU XR8's (series 3) had 220kw at the flywheel
so that's a HUGE increase in stonk (which I don't believe for one minute).

As for weighing 1400kg...
 what is it, a stripped out V8 supercar

my guess is the xr8 will win the 1/4...

it may not be able to launch as well as the awd, but if its manual it will definetly catch up down the track
