It’s official; Motoring Enthusiasts now have a political voice…

The Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party (AMEP) has been formed, registered with the Australian Electoral Commission, and will stand Senate Candidates in each State in the upcoming Federal Election on 14 September.

The decision to form our own political party was not taken lightly, and was initiated after the unity demonstrated by the Motoring Community following recent moves by the Governments of nearly every State in Australia to toughen their anti-hooning and vehicle impoundment legislation.

With the realisation that the rights and civil liberties of every-day Australians are being eroded at an ever increasing rate, the Party aims to bring focus back to the notion that the Government is there for the people, not as it increasingly appears, the other way around.

The formation of the AMEP on a Federal level will not have a direct impact on the individual States or their policies; however, the numbers and strength that we bring to the Federal Party will cause the State Governments to look very carefully at our power-base. They will quickly realise that we will have the numbers to influence (and possibly sway) the results in a State Election; who know, perhaps we will consider standing candidates in State Elections, too…

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - “Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party" to contest the Federal Senate Election 2013.

As everybody is aware there are decisions being made by the Government and authorities that potentially effect our lifestyle, our culture, without any consultation with the Motoring Enthusiast Community.

As part of a political strategy to have our voices heard - The "Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party" will be contesting the Federal Senate Election this year. It is important to demonstrate that, as a community we are a powerful force that cannot be ignored.

We have a place on the road, we have a place in society and we are a huge part of the Australian Culture.

We are well meaning, law abiding, responsible Australian's and all we want to do is ensure the sustainability of our lifestyle. In the past we have never been political, but they have forced us to become political so we can get our unified voice heard at high levels...

Jack, its not about leading the country with policies... its about represention in parliament and having the power to sway decision making.
PS: You also upset many big Kiwi folk who have come over on working Visas!! lol :lol:

There was always going to come a time when things went political to protect our culture, our race tracks and our dragstrips. Without fighting back against unfairness, we all might as well sell up and put our cars away forever. If the govt had free reign, any car older than 10 years old would be scrapped or have higher registration fees imposed on them as a 'pollution tax' or something; all modified cars would be banned on our roads; or your pride and joy would fall victim of constant police harassment where they have the authority to defect for whatever the fuk they decide to make up on the spot. Who is going to oppose them and speak for those without a voice?

Dre, your recent spat at Vicroads for unfair fees for photos and inspection etc was a good example. But you were still forced to cough up the $$ even when it didnt make sense to do so. How did you feel about the system? The only way we can make a change is to fight fire with fire and get the govt to notice. How many times have we wished for the laws to be changed? how many people bitch about the laws or say 'the govt should do something about it'? whilst in the same sentence they're just as happy to sit on their ass and do nothing? the politicians dont give a shit about our culture but they'll be happy to take our votes and our money if left unaccountable.

This post is for those whom feel passionate about the subject and want to be a part of change.
We're not talking about gay marriage, boat people, the budget, or Jack's practising religion

iI think the automotive culture is a rich part of ozzy history, that is slowly getting depleted due to the fact some toorak traktor driving pollie/ police commisioner wants to gain a few votes from mindless people who are dumb enough to beleive what the media feed them, its true enthusiasts need a voice

I last used Facebook in 2009 because I didnt like it. I really only started to use it again recently to keep up with the latest from the ACMC, Grunt Files and see whats on topic in every state.
Through social media people find out things they never would have found out by any other means. Its bringing enthusiasts together.
Did you boys in VIC know that there had been a recent recommendation to raise the age to 25 before you can get off your P-Plates?
Its this type of thing that would get passed in state parliament un-noticed, unless people were made aware of them and given the opportunity to engage their local MP's beforehand.
Much more happening in QLD with the tougher new hoon laws. Its good to be kept up to date.
