Guys, I came across one of these turbos and I don't know too much about them spec wise. I know the compressor outlet (to Intercooler) faces down instead of up so custom pipework is required to the cooler, I don't know too much else at this stage.
Would this be a bolt on for the VR4 in terms of oil / water lines and dump or are they differrent?

Is there an advantage power wise or are they the same? If there is no advantage, I would think it would be better to get the EVO3 version as this is a direct bolt on right? Any help would be appreciated.

The part number for the turbo is 49178-01300

Cheers.

im pretty sure the RVR 16G flows even more than an EVO 3 big 16g. The outlet facing downwards is an advantage too IMO ...

as for water and oil lines, im not too sure, wlthough I cant see why they would be different to a standard Big16g ....

unless I'm wrong the rvr hyper gear only came out with a TD05 16g( in a manual) not a big 16g, and it should bolt up to your vr4 manifold and all oil / water lines and dump should fit also.

your wrong :p

your right about that, it runs a stock TD05 centre cartridge so there shouldnt be anything problems using stock oil and water lines.

There should be 3 rows of numbers cast into the compressor housing above and below the 49178-01300. If the top row has got TD05H-16G6-7 on it then the turbo is off an RVR Hyper Sports Gear R version and has a big16G EVO 3 like compressor wheel and 070 turbine housing. If so, it'll be rated to 380hp like the EVO 3 big 16G. If you can take a look at the compressor wheel see if it looks exactly like a EVO 3 wheel ;) . If it has a different number on it like 16G-7 then its the small 16G variant.

The RVR turbos have a TD05 centre cartridge so should bolt up to your existing water and oil lines. I'm not too sure about the way the dump pipe is shaped so cant comment on it. I cant foresee that there will be a big difference to what you have there now, however it may require a slight angle adjustment (cut and weld exhaust pipe) to suit. Dont worry about the angle of the compressor side unless it is going to give you clearance issues to engine mounts etc, so just get your plumbing made to fit its new location as facing downwards is better than facing upward (law of gravity and less chance of losing a bolt down the guts when the icoola piping has been removed  ). It's better to run your intercooler pipe from underneath if you have room rather than from up and over the exhaust manifold.

16G-6, but its different to a normal Big16G, i've had the RVR and a Big16G next too each other and there are some small differences, the blades were thinner and the angle of them was slightly different.

plus the compressor cover is larger too :)

exhaust is just a normal 070.
