Hey guys another question =P. I've just figured out what some of the crazy gadjets in my car do. I've discovered the boost controller "valve auctuator" it was running on 0.75 bar. My question is what sort of Bar do u reccomend for a 93 gsr turbo. As u can see im completly new 2 the buss =D ! Ive heard that to much boost can actually result in a lowering of horse power because air flow has no where 2 go... or something crazy like that lol . I was thinking on running between 0.7 - 0.6 ? Any ideas, if anyone wants 2 identify the components in my engine go 4 ure life because i sure as hell dont know ( if it helps that is =P )

Welcome to the world of turbo 4WD cars :p

Just a word of warning first up with your b.o.v. Those antique HKS SQV b.o.v's are notorious for leaking, as the diaphragm gets old and perishes. I had one about 7 years ago, and they were even classified as old back then!

As for as much boost your car can handle. Stock boost is about 8psi, add an air filter and exhaust and it'll bring it up to around the 10psi mark. You're running 11psi now, which is fine. Some people are happy to run their 4G93T's on 1bar (14.7psi) but I personally wouldnt run more than 14psi or around the .9bar area, just to be safe.

The choice is entirely up to you.

What other mods does your car have???

Oh reallly.... =( im afraid i dont know what is in my car exactly... it came with all these mods i have no idea of.. just trying to get a vauge idea of i by googling parts on the net lol. ( not working fantastically ) . well with the b.o.v i suppose thats why my car makes such cool noises...leaks maybe? i cant hear anything until i clutch or release the throttle so i dont think it is leaking... but i really wouldnt know im a novice. What replacement would u suggest ?

Yeah ive been running 1 bar on my GSR for ages and its all sweet, ive heard of ppl running more on a stock bottom end but like CLUTZ said run 1 bar just to be safe

i used to run 14-15psi (around 1 bar) and run all the time on the 1.8 with standard td04... never had an issue

beacuse boost doesnt kill engines... its power that ultimatly causes rods to bend in these...

but yes as mentioned a lot of people run 14/15 pound given that you have the supporting mods to go with it...

yeah the 1.8 rods sht themselves after exceeding 15psi.. usually around 17-18psi...loads of people who have run boost that high have had rods bent

dont spend money on replacing the blowoff yet.. do a quick test without the blowoff valve connected (just take it off and block off everything)
after a quick drive you'll know for sure if it was leaking or not... if it was then replace it with something like a turbosmart or even a GFB i havent had problems with.

Where would i be without this forum ???? With a broken car lmao. Thx for the advice =D !!!

I found that changing to 450cc injectors at 14 psi the setup was happy, the standard injectors didnt seem to hack it, whilst there was no detonation I think she was a tad lean.
