Buying an E9

G'day

Apologies if this has been asked a thousand times before - I did search
and couldn't find anything relevant.

I am about to upgrade from a 99 WRX to an Evo 9 and I want to know
if there are any issues, downsides, annoyances etc that I should be aware
of.

It will be a daily driver, doing about 25k km per year, if that makes any
difference

Nothing that i've heard of or seen apart from front wheel bearings & cv's.

But that's a wear and tear type thing, no? It shouldn't be a problem in a
new or near new car?

Only 2 problems that I can see buying a IX.

1) Skyline GTR out next year
2) Evo X out next year

If money was no object, I'd be waiting for the Skyline or X.

Other than that, there aren't too many major problems with the IX.

My bet is that Nissan will bring 100 in under SEVS each year. Crashing a GTR would be too expensive to sell a couple more cars.

I reckon even if it does come out here it will either not be worthy of the
GTR mantle, or if it is it will be outside my price range :twisted:

sorry for the late reply:

i found that maintaining the car is fine - services arent too expensive.

after 7500km i was 1/2 way through my pads which are upgraded and not cheap. tyres dont last too long either. note track work increased this

tracking system is very reliable - move 200m out of the grid lock and instand text msg... i even received a text msg this wkd saying the battery was low!

great car. very quick and can be made quicker easily and cheaply.

recommended first mods: sway bars.

great perfomance car and nice bank for bucks.

very kart like and predictable.

buy an evo!

BTW i think the X and GTR are like 3 years away.
