car wont rev past 4k

hey guys, replaced my clutch and put an external gate on my car. car idled fine but when you rev it you can hear it surge. anyways babied it round the block and it seemed to run fine except for the surging, opend up the gate for a brief second before pulling into my drive and found the engine light on. now my car wont rev past 4k and light goes of for a minute before coming back on again. ive checked over the vacuum lines and i think they all go to the right places. any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

have you read the error code from the ecu?

when the check engine light comes on the ecu will store a code of the fault, you can read the code out using a multimeter. if you have a quick search on here im sure there is some more info on how to do it.

can you explan, "surging" a bit better?
 
will do the check with the multimeter. well its fluttering through the air filter. that is surge right? bit of a noob with turbo gear. a little bit of air does come out of the bov but its mainly out the filter.
 
checked the codes with a multi meter and it came up with 12 (Volume air flow sensor), 13 (Intake air temperature sensor) and 25 (Barometric pressure sensor). now all thats in the air flow meter right?

those codes are to do with the air flow meter. lets just hope that....you have left it unplugged. if not then borrow another to check that cures the issue.
 
to be honest i dont know whether ive got the evo ecu or the gsr one. im pretty sure i have an evo afm tho. its got a 4'' oval outlet and rectangular with the honey comb inlet. i had another afm lying around and that had a 3'' round outlet and rectangular inlet but it doesnt have the honeycomb. it plugged in fine and i can drive my car again. but it does run lean so i presume its a gsr one.
 
got me an afm and car drives ok but now i have another problem. car boosts up to 20psi before i back off and i havnt even hit full throttle yet. ive tested it with 2 gauges and they both doing the same thing. ive used new silcone lines from the controller onwards.
