I've got the head off my VR4 at the moment and thought I'd give the lifters a clean (I've got a couple of sticky ones that tap when cold).

Anyone got a good method?

I'm thinking of sonicating them in hexane, but I'm not sure if they have any rubber seals in them, which would probably not take kindly to solvents like that.........

dunk them in diesel mate.. leave them in there as long as possible
get a very thin pin or wire and push the little hole in.. pump them up and down

bleed them out before installing

Ahh ok I knew I had to do that - sorry I thought it was something complicated that I hadn't considered like you had to tilt them over at exactly 32.1 degrees and suck the air out of them with a straw while holding your nose and playing la -cu- karatcha on a trombone.

Cheers for the heads up  .

supposably if u put them in full, u could bend some valves...
make sure u bleed them in some sort of oil..

some guys let them sit in out upright and let the bubbles bleed out over night..

but i've also heard of others installing them dry, and letting the engine pressurise them and pumping them up.. (about a couple of mins to do)

LOL - can you play La-Cu-Karatcha holding your nose and sucking a straw?

Never pump up lifters you can bend valves!!
And make sure they are all seated and engine turns freely by hand before you start.

If you have the top end cracked open with access to the lifters, throw away the stock pieces of sh!t and buy a set of new 3G lifters from Meek above and never worry about those damn lifters giving you the ***** ever again  Last I saw Meek had them for a really good price - you cant go wrong

I cant understand why you guys dont know yet.
I am selling them for $175 x16
For now i now it is cheap but the price may be dropping even cheaper.

Gsr 1.8 sets x 16 $450.

We don't know because gvr4.org and us are very seperate forums with a very seperate membership base.

Here's the link on the Galant VR4 forum http://www.galantvr4.org.au/public/viewtopic.php?t=7032
Chris is supplying them for a terrific price so if you want to eliminate your lifter ticking noise dont go to a mechanic who will charge you several hundred bucks for stock replacements and labour. Instead pay under $200 for Meek's 3G lifters, and if you cant put them in yourself get a mechanic to do it easy in an hour

What is the difference between the 3G ones and stock ones?

I apologise for being sceptical, but I asked around and most people I know rallying EVOs are using stock ones.

I believe they have bigger holes in them so more oil flow which means no noise.

 Big hole = low pressure

Unless its only the bottom one - in which case,

Damnit were did I put that drill
