Hi guys,

As of last night my clutch pedal doesn't always fully return back to its normal position. It stops about an inch short and i have to push it back up with my foot. It only seems to be the freeplay in the pedal so it still engages and everything the same. Checked the master cylinder and firewall for cracks but they both seem alright, any ideas?

Havent checked, where abouts is it located and can i see it without taking anything apart?

Ive got this on my E3..Its looking like the Clutch master cylinder piston seal sticking in the bore.

had this happen to me a few times.
After filling up my clutch fluid it seemed to disappear.
Have you checked yours?

What clutch pedal return spring setup are you using? I changed to the EVO style (side spring) clutch pedal and had the problem where it wouldn't quickly return to position. I swapped it back to the glxi configuration (top return spring) and the problem has gone away.

From what I've gathered the EVO pedal has to be used with an EVO clutch cylinder otherwise something is out of balance and the pedal feel/operation is not optimal.

Heaps of different causes by the look of it!

At some point im gonna take my clutch master apart and have a look..it seems pretty common this prob on DSM's

I just replaced my EVO II clutch master cylinder with a Repco replacement for the CC Lancer and it appears to be working ok but I did have an issue with the return which I had to shorten.

As someone else has said look up under the dash at the clutch and see if fluid is leaking to the inside. If it is you need a need clutch master cylinder.

What did that cost you? Was it just like a CC Glxi part?

The EVO and standard Glxi cylinders might be different. I was speaking with SIVART from Mitsubishi Knox and he was saying that the cylinder PNs for EVO, GSR and Glxi are different....

The Evo's have the larger 1" bore master cylinder due to the rear brakes. The gizzers/M21 get a 15/16th bore. The glxi's are smaller again (cant remember the exact size).

When i do my clutch master i dont want to be going to a GLXI one...!

Can you not get a new one from mitsi or rebuild it?

Think i've found the problem, this part that connects through the pedal has lost its split pin and was only just seated in the hole so it had a bit of play. So i'll have to get a split pin and test it out.

Why don't you want to go to a GLXI one?

If you can find out what is different between them that would be beneficial. I am having no issues with the standard one on my car.

I compared them side by side and they were fine.

Chris glad you sorted it out. Remember that the bolt only goes through one way so work it out before you start trying to force it through :)

Use this part number and call Mitsi and ask what model it is from
