Hi can anyone give me the dimensions of an evo 8 afm internally?

Im wanting to compare the difference in restriction in flow between these and the 055 (manga afm, same size as evo 1-3 609) im running at the moment.

Im just playing around with some ideas on intakes and if its worth going with a late model evo afm over the 055 i currently run. I want to be flowing enough air for 450hp crank, in the future, approaching the 400hp mark now. The 055 will measure close to 500hp crank worth of air which is plenty so only looking at restriction.

evo8 is actually smaller in size (round) than the (oval) 055 605 old school type

But.......evo 8 afm has larger capable mapping than the 055/605 depending on your application and know how "Tuning"
as it may not be all about the size of the i/d on the maf ;)

I already had a look there thanks, that's how i know it'll get me to 500hp ;)

I'm deciding if to stick with the 055 or go speed density.

I'm purely thinking from a restriction point of view. Thanks for the info, if the evo 8 is smaller inside i wont bother with it.

Has anyone removed an 055/609, kept the same intake piping and noticed or tested a difference?

For some reason i don't feel the need to go speed density, and i'm going to change my intake pipe so its 4 inch soon and sucking cold air.

I have Gerard and I did notice a difference in flow. If I recall correctly I went from around 3000hz to over 3300 when I switched over to SD.
That is using the same intake piping.

But could that just be differences in the dialing in of SD?
I know in theory is should be the same if you hitting the same afr targets with he same setup ect.

I just have read a few threads where people are comparing peak airflow numbers, and i was brought up the SD seems to inflate airflow numbers a bit.

I actually saw better times at the strip and higher MPH too after the swap. That says a lot about the difference to me.
Sounds good to me Tim. I was keen to hear if anyone had a direct comparison. Looking inside it doesn't look very restrictive. Goes to show how every bit counts.

yea, hurry up and sort your dump pipe out.

Yeah ive made my mind up on my O2 housing setup. Going a 3 inch with a Tial 38, plumbed back in. And brace the internal flap open, running the external behind it.
The intake is pretty good atm, but im getting ready for the next turbo which will likely have an anti surge cover so needs a 4 inch inlet.

Then i can test this turbo, the car loves it.
