I have the EVO II up and running.

It is fine at high revs but if I accelerate rapidly from a standing start or at low revs it is like the car is flooding and then it kicks in clears the excess fuel.

Any ideas what this might be?

I have replaced the spark plugs but not the leads yet.

Standard boost and NGK plugs. Will get the code in the next day or so. It was happening with both the old and new plugs.

Check AFM also when was the last time you changed the fuel filter in the engine bay?

If its still doing it and this is an import car or you have recently aquired it from someone else?

Check the fuel tank specifically the fuel pump filter as this happened to me and after I changed fuel filter in engine bay and swapped over to a known working AFM ......

Fuel filter on pump in side the tank did that last, and filter was so blocked it wasnt funny bought a new one and a walbro and threw it in at the same time and presto good to go.

It is like the car is getting to much fuel, it isn't braking down etc just like it is flooded.

Could be anything causing that kind of problem. Its usually somethig electrical rather than fuel related but you cnt rule it out. Even a dodgey 02 sensor will do he same thing (run crap under 3000rpm and then when it hits temperatures at 3000rpm+ it's fine). Might even be a near dead battery or something as this cold weather kills the bastards

Have changed the following items

Plugs
AFM
TPS

It is still having the same issue.

Any other suggestions?

Just to clarify the problem the car is running fine at the top end of the rev range and also when slowly accelerating through the range. The issue is when I accelerate rapidly from low revs in any gear. Feels like it is over fueling.

Still sounds like an ignition issue to me. What plugs are you using and what gap? Swapped leads yet?

i have the seems like flooding at low revs, im getting phantom knock, higher revs it opens up but something is creating massive counts of knock. eg 42 at like 2500 rpm

Matt how healthy are your lifters?

have you both thrown a timing light on it?

and data log for fault codes or a good logging with bring the answers no doubt.

Have had it on diagnostic and it is showing no faults.

I have changed the leads and it still has the same issue.

Someone suggested checking fuel pressure is there an easy way to do this?

I am running out of ideas!!

Anyone?

Checked for boost leaks?

Wouldn't the CAS show up under the fault codes if there was an issue?

It is holding boost fine at the standard level all the way through.

Have just changed the fuel pressure regulator and it is still occuring.

If I change the AFM do I have to disconnect the battery and let the ECU reset?

I have also changed the coil pack now.

I am about to pull all my intercooler pipes off and check for a blockage.

Would the o2 sensor show up on the fault codes?

Its highly unlikely that it'll be the 02 sensor.

Here's a list of things you should check-

Spark plug gap
CAS (replace it with another one)
Intercooler pipes (for leaks, not blockages)
B.O.V (as above)
ECU
Fuel pump voltage

BOV has been checked and is fine.

Brand new plugs and came pre gapped.

I can check them and re gap. What is the required gap?

What are the signs that the CAS has gone?

0.8mm optimum for a fairly stock car.....

The higher the boost and heat lower towards 0.6mm.

I personally run 0.65mm on mine.

I had the CAS go on my car recently, it used to totally cut right out. Auto Elec was able to check the codes on my ECU to determine the CAS was stuffed.
