EVO II slow

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I wouldn't worry too much just yet mate - all the cylinders within 5 psi of each other is a pretty good result. The low figures could just be caused by a dodgy battery or starter. Run a wet comp test by putting a few drops of oil down each bore first, and if the numbers come back similar, then you don't have anything to worry about. If they change significantly, then yeah, your rings are likely on the way out.

Either way, I doubt low compression across the board would cause the problems you're describing.

I am seriously out of ideas.

ALl that is left is cam timing. Anyone in Brisbane want to help me out with checking that this week sometime?

have you brought it to a professional?
howbout bringing it down to APC?

It is booked in to APC on Friday.

They want 350 dollars to tell me what the problem is. Then again it could just be me as I haven't driven the car for 5 years.

Anyone have a stockish evo I/II powered car in Brisbane and want to take me for a drive.

If you want to drive over to Joyner, I can show you how to check the cam timing. I am home all this week working on my car.

Has anyone ever had leaking injectors?

What would be the symptoms if it was leaking into the intake manifold?

if it was leaking into the manifold it would be running rich. if it was leaking on the outside because of a faulty o-ring/ seal it would be hard too start and it would have a miss and a fuel smell

You would only notice it after the engine has been turned off for a while. When you went to start it, it would be difficult to start and depending on the severity of the leak, it may foul the plugs, run rough and blow black crap out the exhaust.

You will not notice any difference caused by a leak while driving it though, unless an injector was literally stuck open.

Having them cleaned by Petro ject today. Will chuck them back in and see what happens. Worse case scenario they do nothing but they are original and haven't been cleaned for 10 years.

how does it run now mate?

It is the quickest thing I have driven in a while :) I haven't driven the car in about 5 years. My last few cars have been a ford escort and vw 2.0 air cooled camper.

Just need to check the boost level tonight to make sure everything is ok there and then book it in for a dyno run to check mixtures etc.

Got a price on a cage today

$1650 for a CAMS approved cage with side instrusion bars and through the dash and a harness bar.

So thats next on the agenda once I get some of the cosmetic stuff completed.

It is entered in Gatton street sprints in March and I want to do a track day before then.

Who are you looking to get the cage done by?

I just bought some of the FIA approved roll cage padding today, what an absolute rip off that stuff is. I reckon FIA honcho's are getting kickbacks from it. You can buy the normal offset roll cage padding for $13 per 3 foot length and the FIA stuff is $99 for a 3 foot length and it's only for half a side, you need two if you want to wrap the bar completely. And the shit is ORANGE .

Bruce at Nambour Radiators. I have to check if that includes painting blue plate and cams approval docs.
