VII for under 30 sounds like it'd be the crap of the crop + you have to wait forever to get it
 
Check the site. have a look for yaself. they have all the pix of them.
35 is as hi as they go unless there moded up.
but yes under 30 is crap of crop. good thing crop is all good tho.
 
Evo's are great cars especially the VII but there are plenty of poor examples to be found that you wouldn't want to touch with a bargepole...
 
yeah. its still a hard choice to make 7 or 3.
what problems do u find on the ones you wouldn't touch with a barge pole?
if its the sort of problems that will be overcome with my immediate upgrades then im not so worried
 
7's are innately faster in just about everything except for drag racing. AYC will do that.

3's are more knowledgeable for us due to the motor being essentially the same as the vr4.


3's will kill you in a frontal accident, 7's won't. Something to think about.

are 3s not lighter than a 7? Thus same power in a 3 will make it quicker than a 7 everywhere?

7 is newer and will have lower km's in comparison to a 3.

3 doesnt have yaw to be concerned about if you have to replace it. I guess a more simplified car to work on and get power out of.

3 being older would have alot of aftermarket support available and alot of R&D Has been done on the early 4G63. So alot of knowledge available from many sources.

Man you have a tough choice.. 3 or a 7. Both very nice. 7 newer but a 3 is harder to find in good condition.

3 parts may be harder to come by ie front panels,interior parts etc. But then i dont know how hard parts are to get for a 7.

I would just not buy either so I didnt have to make a choice. :shock:

OH last thing.

If you had $35k to spend. buy the 3 and spend $10k on mods. Would make it alot quicker than the 7 at the same cost :D

Seen Evo3 crash tests? If you ever do, you'll reconsider.

Incorrect. They will indeed be faster in a drag (straight line), but when it comes to cornering, the better chassis, AYC, ASC, TCS etc all kick in and make the e7 FAR superior through the corners. Ask anyone who's rallied either of them or track raced. If e3's were faster, they would use them in GT Production instead of e8's.

E7/8/9 have been proved to clock well clear of 200 @ wheels with just management and a 3 inch exhaust and some boost. Same power in an e3 required more than this.

You're actually wrong here. 7's have more aftermarket available. Most of the stuff for the 3's is now out of production.

Maybe, but the 7 will undoubtedly be more reliable.
 
all good points to thing about.
Im want to cage whatever i get and use it for track days so it will out perform eather in a crash anyway.

ahh damit.. still thinkin about it. ill just keep saving and looking i guess.

the girlfriend wants the 7, i guess she likes the idea of having an airbag too :)

All this talk about evo 7 or 3. I have owned a 3 ( in NZ ) and a tommi 6.5. I would still put my money on the 3 on track or on drag strip. saying that thou alto depends on the driver. i found my 3 alot easier to drive than the 6.5, the 6.5 didn't feel very natural at all felt like the car was driving me . therefore i sold my 6.5 and on the market again for a 3.

as for mods its way easier to mod a 3 than a later model evo. but then mods dont count for sht when when u go to sell the car.

i reckon it depends on the person,

I was of this opinion also. but don't think im really qualified to comment at this stage :)
I know there's a few track records still set b 3s. not that this is conclusive evidence,
I am sure the later model evos are faster around the tracks with people that are not as skilled. but like you I really don't like that been driven feeling. I like to feel the car.
 
most peope buy these cars to drive on weekends and as daily drivers, as a daily driver i hated 6.5, but on long drives id take that over the earlier ones. for a good friday night street drag , nothing goes past the earlier evos. draging from one light to another id put my money on the earlier model every time. number of GTR's that ive seen get blitzed by evo 3 is unbelievable. but then top end the later models just chase the earlier evos down.

FCK IT GET BOTH . IGNORE THE BANK BALANCE AND THE LOAN. I last year had a evo 1 rs, vr4 and a 6.5 all at the same time , with a $65000 personal loan.

Still paying it for it :cry:

im only on $20 per hr maybe with the next pay rise. or up my hrs to 60 a week
else i might get both.. one for the gf :)
 
its the best feeling ever to open your garage and havea choice of which beast you wanna drive on the given day ... i loved it..

couldn't afford to do anything else thou, i lived for my cars , now im living to pay the fcker off

yeah it was good. not as good as I had hoped.
It has had a respray at somestage. under the bonnet is still original white.
They tidied the car up a little, he said he would give me a call when it was back from Vicrds(some recall thing) needed unleaded sticker and child seat stuff.
I saw it go into the paper this week, back up to $24,900 this tho.
ill give him a call tomorrow and have another look.
but I can get a much cleaner reshell evo3 for a much better price.
so I think ill do that.. or a 2ltr converted lancer GSR,
I did want genuine but im over the wank value of that now, I think :)
Yeah I could go daz evo but I would have NO $$ for anything much, and I really want to use it for track days once a month or so. and keep a couple of my other hobbies.
ahh decisions decisions.
but yes I wand a 3 and not a newer now. much to my gfs descust :)
 
Yeah, i cant imagine paying 25 for a 3 when i sold sold my 6.5 for $32000. id be better of buying a 6 again. I cant imagine paying more that 19 for a decent one, otherwise its just not worth it
 
Car is worth what people will pay.

Plus its a classic car, hard to come by these days.

Glad people have looked at it though and made there own decisions on it.

I agree with ya there.
supply and demand VERY small supply.. acording to DORAV only 10 CE9A#### chassis have come into australia as personal imports..
so that includes all evo 2 and 3s, quite rare. Very tempted to have a mate in teh UK or NZ to bring one back as a personal for me. but at the end of the day the only real diferance is going to b the number stamped into the firewall.

if so ill import one thru a mate there oneday
