No. Plus personal imports are alot trickier to get in than just "getting a mate to send it over".

There would have to be proof of registration and residence in the country of purchase for a minimum of a year.

Then they couldnt just send it here for someone else ot register it. They would have to bring it in under personal import have it registered in there details.

I am not sure if you have to own the car for x amount of time here in aus before you can go ahead and sell it. Never really looked into it.

yeah thats what i ment. give him a car for a yr.
not realy somthing i can afford to do tho i dont think.

but i do have some contacts that use to do somthing that avoids these issues.
not sure if they can still help me tho.

Might be worth while looking into. Even if it is registered here and he is setup as a resident at your address. Then after a few months you can buy it off him LOL transfer it across all good. You bought it off your room mate.
