nah, its cool...
can you log intake temps with the factory computer?

yes but you need a custom evo datalogger cable.. that costs $150 i think.. i dont have one.. wanna buy me one too ?

honestly.. the cooler does the job.. isnt much more to say.

Jon

just outta the blue!

what do you guys think of the different types of paint used on itercoolers.....

E.g: high temp, acrylic, enamel

how much efficiency would it be sucking out of the cooler if painting it!!

i have used a mix of high temp matte black and high gloss enamel....since i only had enuff to do one coat of gloss...and then i just did with high temp matte...lol

but yeah would this make any difference whatsoever?? :? im thinking wince the matte has a sorta roughness to the finish of the surface it would dissipate heat better than a plain flat surface if u get what im sayin!

cheers boys!

Made 219.7Kw today..
For you non believers...

Congrats Roger, oh i mean Jon :p

Seriously thats awesome, just watch what you say bro you don't want to sound lik roger.

i reckon the paint would keep the heat in, keep it paint free.. or if u must, a very light coat..

they say black draws the heat out faster.. but i cant see how.. its only a colour, and water doesn't act like light in that way..

Black absorbs heat, sit in a Black car, and a white one on the same day, Black one will ALWAYS be hotter

For a FMIC carnt be good black :( lol

Yeah, because the IC is in direct sunlight........

:?: :?:

OK I am guessing your basing that one nothing rather then science?

Black absorbs heat, the unpainted one may feel hotter on the outside as it is reflecting all the heat but there is no way it would be cooler on the inside, the difference may be negligle though...

Now that's a fair increase in power, top stuff.
What dyno was it on?

As for painting the cooler black Vs other coloured arguement..
On a hot day wear a black shirt then a white shirt, you'll soon realise which absorbs/reflects heat quicker.
One opinion of spraying the cooler is that acrylic paint is, in a sense like plastic, If you coat the cooler in plastic it wont disperse the heat as quickly compared to bare metal.

I hope it makes some sort of sense because that's how it explained to me by someone who makes custom intercoolers for a living. If you want to have a chat with him, pm me and I'll send you his details.

Oh and Jon,
Thanks and congrats for representing mitsu and getting 1st place at the recent dyno comp..
once again, top stuff :)

found out today.. when it made 219.7kw it had a headgasket/head bolt problems.

concluding that it was not leaking when normally driving it but once on serious boost it would lift the head.. and stretch the head bolts.. so if this is the case then wow cant wait to get it fixed and see.. this could also be the case in why my 1/4s are so slow to mid way..

anyways will keep you updated and cometic ss gasket and ARP head bolts going in.

Just out of interest Jon, What is the weight of your car? (If you know)
Cause I would have thought that if your pulling that MPH you would have around the 240-50kw mark.

1340kg full weight with driver.

Ill get it redynoed after i fix the gasket/bolts problem and see where we are at.. Dyno's can lie, the best way to check power is to put it down the strip.

Thats right, power will show in MPH, with 1340kg & you running a PB of 118mph (thats some big mph, would be mid 11sec trap speed), That works out to have more power than what your making, just doesn't add up....
Either your car doesn't weigh as much as you said OR your making more power than 219 odd kw :? (Dyno reading way off or over heating causing problems maybe?)
Remember 1340kg is no feather weight.
Cheers :)

PS: OK I've done the maths, It does work out right, sorry mate dont mind me, getting mixed up with the AWD VS RWD power.
So yeah you have about 380-400hp (Fly) & SHOULD run a 11.6 1/4 from the weight & MPH.
