Has anybody any knowlege about replaceing the tinplate cover on the bottom of a Starion box with a thick 20mm?? ally cover that is claimed to stop the box twisting and causeing missalignment of the gears under heavy hi torque loadings ????
Any info particularly from users and where it can be found appreciated

I've personally not heard of this before as most people with twincam starions just swap to w5x series toyota boxes or run fc rx7 boxes?

I imagine you're trying to retain originality in this case. Have you considered taking the cover you are talking about off and seeing if a local engineering shop can make one to your specifications?

Finding off the shelf parts for a starion would be getting a lot harder these days is all.

OLDIE speak to Mark Boxel from GTPumps.com.au he was racing these back when I was a teenanger and is a walking tech bible of the old Mitsu's he has owned a raced many different Starions and still has some Starion Grp A Parts in his workshop ;) From a Ex Ralliart UK mechanic who he used to race with back in the day.

I'd be calling mark before I'd be calling chris.

The build job of my forged engine is well... sub par. 11,000 kms old and we've already done some pretty major work to it. (Chris built it)

This should be interesting. Have spoken to my tuner who is also a manual gearbox wizz. Aparently the KM132 casing will take truck gears from later models... Which are thicker/wider/stronger...

He thinks this thick ass pan will be a good idea and it'll be interesting to see if it holds up under mine haha.

Just finished the install and the new ally pan is a perfect fit and comes complete with the required longer studs, washers ,wizz nuts ,thread lock& locktite gasket goo as well

the starion box will interchange with a triton 2.5 non turbo 2wd box
I think they have bigger gears in them and they bolt straight into a starion

Hey Doug can you be more specific please ?? 2.5 = diesel ?? or a typo ?? year made to look for ??
Thanks
