Glowing turbo after freeway work

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Car had a cat back 3 inch exhaust up until Monday when I had the cat and cat forward replaced with 3 inch parts. The only other restriction I can think of is that the muffler might have lumps of cat in it :S

I am certain that it is not a straight through muffler(its a massive barrel) but even then a muffler should not be giving that much of a effect up at that end without glowing itself should it?

After more and more reading I am going to check the plugs again, then the ignition timing, then the cam timing. Then ship it off to Springy motors for some diag and a proper tune.

Well after a number of other things being done to the car its still glowing! The manifold glows alot too, hard to see where the glowing stops and starts with the heat shield on.

I have now changed the following since the initial post:
New exhaust from turbo back
New leads and plugs(addressed a miss I had)
Tuned with ECM Link, AFRs are fine, timing fine
Air filter cleaned + oiled (K&N panel)

Is there a possibility it could be caused by a crack in the manifold? I cant really feel any air getting out there, but I have only tested at idle when cold. Or could my turbo be on the way out(shaft play, low oil supply, etc).

Is it giving you any issues at all?
How does the car feel?

I'm starting to think that it may well be normal for your car to do so.
Is it a stock vr4 manifold?
If so, it may be the last original one left!
lol

The car feels fine, dont really seem to have any other issues in terms of performance. I am pretty sure its a stock Evo 3 manifold.
