4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I just read post #73.

Why don't you try removing+blocking the feed line to the wastegate and regulate boost pressure with throttle input to see if the problem remains.

If that fixes the issue then buy a programmable EBC and set it up to open the wastegate valve as smooth as you want using duty cycle.
I'm not sure how good the closed loop boost controllers are but if your wg valve is too big and the controller doesn't have suitable damping it could increase rise time, which would feel like like the target boost threshold has been raised.
I have no experience with closed loop boost controllers so I can't comment on their transient performance.

Anyway, check that it is indeed the problem first. It would be the first situation I've heard of having an oversized wg valve.

Yea it's oscillating, and you can hear it spool up then drop of and it'll do that over and over if you keep you foot planted, I spose that's probly why it runs rich too, because it's putting in fuel for air that's not there.

I have an ebc however it isn't programmed so the wastegate is just working off the spring, I think this is the issue so I will have a finale with it when I get a chance, I didn't think of it earlier because I didn't realise the wastegate would be letting the pressure go like that.

I figure with the boost controller programmed right I will be able to up the psi to around 15 and then control the cycle to I spose flutter the gas out and make it smoother rather than a dump of gas which rapidly drops the pressure and causes the feeling of loss of power.

I will report back once I've had ago of this and we will see what happens :)

Thanks all

Update on this, I had a fiddle with the boost controller and was able to make it better, not 100% yet! I don't have much experience tuning boost controllers so am just taking it slowly, so I should be able to iron out the 'oscillating' boost, hopefully.

Vr401 Is looking at my chip bin file and altering it to suit my mods, it was way off. Hopefully with the ebc tuned right and the right bin file on the chip I will get the afrs nice and eliminate the boost issue

Thanks again for all who input ideas and feedback

Good stuff.

Hey, I'm about to throw a MAF interceptor in the bin as I've no use for it.
It's the Jaycar digital fuel adjuster, complete with the cable and hand controller.

Let me know if you want it and you can have it for the postage cost.
