howdy guys, i recently brought a 93 gsr, its preety much stock, ive been driving it for about a day now, it seemed to drive under normal driving, but if you tried too accelerate to quick it would cough and splutter and puff shit load black smoke out, untill you backed off then it would be fine, today when i tried to boot it, it done a big cough and died, now it will start and rev in neutral, but if you try and drive it, it will just brake down like its missing or fowling up, any ideas, i have gone over everything and it all looks ok, ( ie- pipes, joins, hoses etc).
 
i had that struggle to accelerate and black smoke, changed sparkplugs and leads seemed to fix it, got any leaks?
 
seems like boost leak symptoms...but if you have checked that and they are all all. check plug leads and plugs.

has it been degrease recently.....water in plug boots?


dodgy airflow meter?
 
hmm... load only problem...

F**ked Leads (what ones are u using, ive had brand new Top Gun ones fail), water on top of the spark plug/s, light oil film residue on the airflow meter honeycomb, its sucking air after the air flow meter...

Let us know what the result is when u find it.

Here's a plug for some reputable leads fella's, you wont be dissapointed :) 9mm leads running at 29psi with standard coils..

il re check all the pipes for leaks and holes etc, i might take off the leads and plugs from my good motor and try that, cant try the afm off that it dont have one lol, has the microtech, im gonna transfer all the gear into this but was hoping too still use it for a bit while mount everything in place then do the swap over, il try a few things and see what i can get.

so does the micro tech have a tune for a near standard engine or the old engine with cams and bigger turbo etc?
 
I have a heap of GSR parts you can try.... its probably a boost leak, but hard to find. I've sent a PM as well.
Its way more preferable to retain the standard engine management than put a Microtech in !!

hahahaha thats the one man,

i still cant belive it too, got it all sorted now, it was a boost leak lol, the bottom hose was half off, but man what a best for 2gs, the paint is slightly fadded and seats have a couple rips but drives bloody great, ice cold aircon too, drove back home to whyalla 4hrs from adelaide didnt miss a beat even in this heat, think im gonna drop all my race car stuff in this for a play toy for a bit.
