Mitsubishi 380 dropped for Evolution X

Dam, I really liked the 380 TMR version... after seeing a 380sx in light green, lowering with black rims it really did stand out. Made the VZ commodore ute look ancient :)

I like this though..
'But if a customer wants one the company could put them in touch with Team Mitsubishi Ralliart's Alan Heaphy and get one built, McEniry says'

That is so much bullshit.
No, they arent going to produce the TMR 380 BUT they are still making 380's.

The series 3's have just started being built, the VRX and GT models look heaps nicer. The VRX comes with a nice lip kit and sexual wheels to make it stand out a bit. Aswell as different trims and lil bits.
Base model 380's are 1k more expensive but come with an extra 3.5k worth of goodies in them.
Also later in the year they are releasing the new GSR lancer and Evo X. Auto triton diesels are finally being released as is the new shape n/a mivec lancer.

My service manager went to a mitsu meeting at the factory on Thursday and was tellin me all about it on Friday.

i thought that 2, no way would they discountinue the 380, they r a good car, but herald sun say "Mitsubishi Australia will discontinue the 380 series and focus on other products such as the Evolution series."

i dnt belive the herald sun they print 2 much crap.

How can anyone say that they dont like that? They stand out more than a Commodore and Falcon anyday. Sales are down on 380 possibly due to the fact that I see fuk all advertising and the car's image needs a little more revamping like the above pic instead of looking like a bland and pregnant hippo which isnt going to grabanyone by the balls. I know Mitsu are minding the budget but FFS how can you sell cars if you dont budget for advertisement  The average Aussie has trusted Commonwhores and Falcons for years so Mitsu need to get in ya face and advertise where the 380 out-classes, out-performs, and out-casts the competition to gain interest :D

I agree that it looks good but if I had that kind of money to throw around on a new car, there is no way that i'd be purchasing a 380TMR. I would much prefer an SS Commodore and keep the change.

FWD cars were originally designed because they are cheaper to produce. Who at the end of the day really wants a FWD when there are other options available for the same price? The 380 is a good car in its own right but its just not good enough to overcome what was already stacked against it. As for the 380TMR, it's all a bit too late to attempt to resurrect what should have been done right in the first place. Crash and burn.

Ahhh... I thought the TMR was a special RWD sports edition  Still FWD eh? then that'll explain why thy arent competitive  Still, some FWD cars dont feel like FWD at all. I remember when driving an FTO once the thing was balanced well and handled great and didnt feel like FWD at all :D

FWD's are more efficient and safer to drive for the average person...
and honestly, i would prefer a fwd over a rwd as a street car simply based on the fact that i dont have to worry about losing the ass of the car when wet....

but i think its more to do with the commo / falcon hold on the market with the brand loyal customers...

I have driven a 380 GT with quite a bit of work done to it. had about 210kw atw. The cars these days(incl. 380's) come with traction control, torque bias and heapos of other shit that makes any person drive like a bloody F1 driver.

That's all true but the stigma of FWD still remains to the RWD owner. And thus they continue to buy their Commodores and Falcons.

Personally, if I wanted a family car I wouldn't go past 200kw Aurion. Class leading power and fuel economy, excellent build quality (unlike Falcon/Commodore) and it looks great.

and i dont like toyota :)

Thats cool but.....

Its the same sort of narrow mindedness from falcodore drivers saying "i dont like mitsubishis" that causes people to totally overlook a good car.

Me, i'm a car whore, i'd drive anything as long as its GOOD.

Current:Mitsubshi rally car, Mitsubishi truck(6D31 with TD06  ) subaru road car, toyota work ute.

Previous: Ford rally cars, Holden/ford/chryslers/road cars, ford work utes.

I feel like dirty slut now that i think about it

Maybe i can start a team6D forum

Bullshit. You've obviously never driven one.

Can you say lethargic, unresponsive and utterly BOATLIKE bodyroll through corners?

Oh and after about 15,000 kms they ALL develop a really REALLY fucking annoying rattle behind the dash. Good luck with that one.

Did you know hire cars have been statistically proven to go faster in reverse than any other car? :D:D

on that note, my best mate is (now) a travelling shopfitter for spotlight around australia and he gets hirecars all the time. Last one he got was a BF XR6 and he ripped the front bar off it doing jumps. They werent' impressed to say the least.
