My Cruise Controll SUCKS!!!!

I've had just about enough of the cruise control in my Aus spec VR4.

It is so erratic, surges up and down, constantly floors it then overshoots the set speed than slows about 10km below the set speed and so on and so on. :evil:

Does anyone else have this sort of problem.

TPS (throttle position sensor) could be crook. For starters make sure all your connections to it are all good. Not 100% sure but it could be that. Have you tried searching cruise control ?

Yeah i had a look on the weekend thinking it might be a split vacume hose to the actuator. Then realised its an electronic cruise. I dont think it would be the TPS because it drives fine in every other way, idles fine, starts fine.
I was hoping there might have been a way to calibrate it or something.

And yeah did a search, hehe try searching anything with CRUISE in the title and see how many results you get back.

Could be your idle control, especially if your cruise speed is close to closed throttle.. maybe try setting cruise while your in third gear?

If your FIAV is on its way out, it could be fluttering open and closed slightly, giving the cruise mixed signals?

same thing happens with mine its just a crap cruise controll system

It's not a crap system...its an old system.
Almost all factory cruises run their own ECU now. I'm assuming VR4's run their own cruise ECU? Find the ECU, remove the cover and see if there is any damage. Then work backwards.

I've got no problems with mine at all. works perfectly every time!
