My new engine paint job

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

bwahahaa!! paint it again, i went matte black on mine a few weeks back..i would show u pics but its still in the shop  (unrelated issues) anyway..point to my story is matte black looks tops and looks way cooler then the dirty metal standard look

It will probably also cause more underbonnet temperature aswell, being that black absorbs heat.....

I'm staying away from anything black when my engine bay gets done.

i thought that only relates to visible light, so if you're driving in the sun with no bonnet then maybe it might effect it..

either way you're rocker cover is going to get hot..

I'm staying away from anything black when my engine bay gets done.

good luck with that 8)

being black in colour only affects heat absorbtion from a light source like the sun. having a black rocker cover would not affect unde bonnet temperatures at all..........

finally, pics of the matte black goodness

radiator was already in when i got the car, but looks to be a straight fit. im pretty sure there was no modification needed. and the HIDs are great, i get the occassional high beam from oncoming drivers everynow and then, but all in all there a crap load better then halogen.

It does look good from the photo - you think about filing/shaving the paint off the raised lettering and having the silver contrast against the black?

black objects absorbs heat because its usally is in direct sunlight. (key word being light) is the bonnet is down and ur driving along and there is not alot of light the the black rocker cover wont absorb much heat at all.

what would b good 2 use would b heat resistant paint.

if u dnt believe me paint ur rocker cover black, blue, red, yellow and silver. in sections, run the engine for a while take the car for a drive then if u hav a laser temp gun test the different colours. but who can b bothered to do that and who would hav a laser temp gun lying around.
