Alright peeps. Bolted up my new motor 4g63t (evo3) run an Evo engine loom. Glxi engine bay looms and interior looms so it's all plug and play.

A turn the key and it cranks but doesn't start. I have fuel from pump and return so that's fine. I've checked power to ecu pin a25. And I have it. I've checked for spark but it doesn't seem to be sparking. Everything I can see and find is plugged in.

Any ideas would be great. The motor ran before.
The only unusual thing I have is on air con side of the looms. There is an orange plug. I think its for climate control. Not sure.

Near the aircon. Sender for what? Got a pic of what it plugs into. And the orange? Remember it's right near the washer bottle and aircon

Gianni ...I've just looked at the wiring on my Evo for you and the big plug goes to aircon dryer unit then goes from there to aircon fan at front, from what i can see..and the blue plug is not being used on my car at all.
I don't think this is what's stopping it from starting....

Thanks jamo. So at least I know I'm not missing anything. Now to source the problem. Any ideas? I have no sparking

Na. Motor ran 100% innthe other car.

Alright. Bit of update. I'm no longer hearing fuel pump. Maybe pump was never on to begin with. The fuel I had comin out may have been left over in the lines under the car. I've traced signal from ecu through to plug under seat. I'm dropping out tank to check there.

just pop the cover under rear seat on driver side. should have power when cranking on one of the fat wires. there are 2 yellow ones (fuel guage and light) the other 2 are power to the pump and pump earth. (i think its black with blue trace)
there is also check pump connecter under bonnet on engine loom near throttle body.(just check my wiring diagramms) its a blue connector!

hey,Gianni, you know that blue connector that you dont know what is for? its your fuel pump check terminal. check for voltage there as it is connected to the power for the fuel pump. should also be black with blue trace (cant quite see in your top pic)

Did you change the Interior harness? The fuel pump harness in the coupe is on the passenger side rear footwell, make sure its plugged in and has power. Also is the engine control relay pluged in and have u tried another one? Are all the earths connected to the ecu itself? 3 black wires for memory they need to be connected to one of the bolts holding the base of the ecu to thud car. Also unplug and connect the ecu a fee times, this may remove and dust or contaminants from the plugs. Also are you coils connected and have a nice clean mounting surface? They earth through the mounts I think...

Hey jack. That blue plug is yellow and black from memory. I'll double check in the morning.

Little bit of an update. When I turn the key the starter motor works and engine cranks over. When I turn to position 1 & 2 I hear the ecu click. And once I turn off after about 10 seconds I here it click off. I'm sure this is normal so ecu is fine.

Everything is plugged in nice and tight. The check engine light comes on then fades off which is normal. The only place been spliced is between engine loom and engine bay loom. But I'm pretty sure it's not vital components. It's just power steering. Lights. Fans. Ect.

Chaser. I'll try remounting the coils again :). Good idea. Yeah interior is Efi loom. I've traced power to the rear footwell I'm gonna take out pump in the morning and run it off a battery. Make sure it's ok.

Yeah the engine control relay is plugged in. I can here either it or the ecu click on when I turn the key. Just no fuel pump :(

Before u pull the tank out just check power at that plug first. Might save you a few hours... unless you want to put a bigger pump in that is....

here are the diagramms you need to sort this out. they are lancer 1.8 but we know they are very similar to the evo ones especially in the engine loom.
pages 61,62 show where connectors are and colour and number of pins and description. we see:
a41 is blue connector, has 1 pin and is speed sensor (is fuel check in proton. sorry)
a37 is brown connector, has 1 pin and is timing adjuster related (?)
a44 is black connector, has 1 pin and is fuel check.

page 63,64 show connector b23 that is green and has 13 pins. remember that it is lhd so we need to reverse it all. there should be a green connector up by the yellow ecu plugs.

page 131,137,153:
show different years for the fuel pump wiring. they all the same regards pump wiring.

disconnect fuel line and put it in container to catch fuel.
first check for power when cranking at a44 on firewal (should be black/blue trace on black plug). if power then check for power at pump under rear seat (black/blue). if no power there check at b23 (green plug near ecu, pin 11) and black/blue wire at tank loom connector in pass rear footwell. (all when cranking)
if no power at a44 check at pin 7 (black/blue) and pin 8 (black/white) on c07 (fuel relay plug behind ashtray) there must be power there, surely. because power is fed from b40 pin3 (black/white) at the ignition switch, through pin4 on b22 (black/white)
if power at pin 7 and 8, earth pin 5 momentarily (white/red) to fire relay, or connect pins 7 and 1 to bypass relay. this will check relay operation.
that will keep you occupied. letme know if you need more loom diagramms

Alright. New update. Tested pump. It's working. Just not switching on. Got multi meter on. When ignotion is off there is no signal. When in possition two the pump gets signal but doesn't pump anything. When I crank over it sends fuel but turns off once it stops cranking

thats a bit of hard one mate. Have you got another ecu to check if its the problem? Also try another engine control relay if you have one handy... Other than that im stumped and cant offer much more help over the interwebs

I believe it is your main relay wiring. Confirm that both sides of the relay are being pulled down appropriately.

The mpi has 2 switches internally that activate when gnded. These gnd points are activated by your ecu. The reason being that your ecu only activates your fuel pump on cracking and on engine running. By engine running I mean when there is a cas trigger being generated, ie cas spinning. I have the mpi pinouts somewhere in my note book but I would look there first. Also check all your ecu earth points and loom earth points.

Alright. Checked relay. That was a problem. One relay would switch over and give signal. But the other relay would click and not complete the circuit on the other end. That happened to be the fuel pump blue black bi piggies the back of that relay system (all 4 wires and put the into a new relay. And gues what. Fuel pump now runs like it should.....
.....but it's still not starting :(
