New motor not sparking

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

have you pulled out the plugs and actualy cghecked for spark or just making an assumption.

next thing i would do is insert a screw driver into a lead and get it close to an earth point and check for spark. if it sparks then i'd check for injector pulse.with fuel and spark it should atleast try and fire

Um. Checked injectors they have pulse :)
Plugs I pulled out and they wernt sparking. I tested ignotors and they ate sensing signal. I'll try ur screw driver idea. :) plugs and leads are from my old motor. Same motor so I know they work

Do u have a spare CAS? If you do throw that on, maybe you shorted out the module or.... Has the CAS been removed in the past? It has to be put in correctly

And it doesn't matter if you knew they worked in the past, parts like these can die instantly with 1 little voltage spike

Just don't eliminate a option because you have seen it work before, I'll be starting at scratch and test everything.... twice :)

How do u test the Cas :) what wires am I looking at with a multi meter and what kinda signal. I tested the plug and it's fine but bit the cas itself. Last of all what cars use the sane Cas.

I'll call in a mobile mechanic tomorrow if I have no luck

I put in a new relay and it does exactly the same as the old one part number is e8t08471. Can anyone confirm this is right. It's out of a cc glxi.

Also I checked coils and they are receiving power. So is the Cas.

Yeah. I tested Cas. A freind said get a multi meter onto it and it should be giving low volts from ecu. And then when cranking it should be giving higher volts on a different line. It seems fine from that perspective

The other thing I noticed is my alarm isn't operational. The car locks and everythin fine. Imoboliser works as well. But the alarm is being strange

Yeah. Thought that. It's operating fine. As in locks. Unlocks. If it's unlocked it Cranks. If it's locked it doesn't crank. If u unlock it and let it sit then imob clicks in and no crank. So hit the button and it deactivates it and it cranks. It's just the siren isn't going off

On mine there is only 1 wire that has been split. The black and yellow wire. That runsto the unit. The out again back to the other side of the wire to cut in and out when necessary. There are a few other wires, but they split off from other ignition wires. So it registers when the key is on. Also a pair for indicators to flash. A few months ago I copied it over from a carby loom onto fmthe Efi loom and it's been working fine. Being set up for carby I don't think it ever had an ecu cut off or a fuel cut off.

Either way I inspected it and it all looks fine. Why the alarm isn't actually working has me beat. But so does this no start thing. Grrr

remove alarm completly because it could be causeing it not to start... It wont take long and it may well be the problem. I had similar problem with my car ages ago before i converted it. alarms are crap when it comes to fault finding...

Is it just the alarm as in cut the wires branchin off an re attach the one that has been bypassed. Or do I do central locking aswell

:) will do.

Called my auto elec. He said there may be a plug wired in backwards on the drivers side near the loom. He said it can be comon on our mOdles to be put on upside down. I'll look for that first. He recons this coz the Cas is sending low level signal even when it's not plugged in. Then I'll try alarm. Failing that I'll tow it to my auto elec :)

Hello children.
Got the car back from the auto elecs. Spent a good few hour getting the car running as smooth as possible. It has a new tps sensor so had to adjust idle. Other things like clutch ect too.

What the autoelec did was simply run a new wire from the ecu to the cas. And it got the motor running. He also ran a new wire from ignition to starter motor coz he said it was no longer cranking. I'll see if I can get it cranking off the normal wire again.

Good news is car is running. Bad news is the tad fans aren't coming on. So I'm thinking there is some wiring issue that caused the Cas and other thing not to be working. Anyone have any ideas?

Finally. I don't feel it is boosting right. I don't have a guage but once I hit about 5000-6000 rpm the mottor starts struggling to push harder?like it gets to 5 easy but then struggles to reach 6

hi mum, glad you got this one going

Ha ha ha. Yeah. Im glad it's running. I'll be even more glad when it's running right. Like I said the auto elec ran 1 new wire from ecu to Cas....that's about it. And doesn't a wire already do that from the ecu. So why wasn't that wire doing it's job in the first place. It's strange :p
