Help Support 4GTuner:

Just sent this email to the dealers...

Hi Nic its Gerry, just got off the phone with my insurance and they wont insure the car unless it is engineered properly ie engineers report and pits inspection and engine registered as a 2.0. So i am gonna have to let you guys get it done for me for the full asking price of $15k. So if you could draw up a contract with that on ie engineers report, pit inspected and all problems identified and rectified with all corresponding paperwork for things like the exhaust emissions brake upgrade/suspension and modifications that would be great. If it helps i know the order is apply for engine approval off dpi via there website then get it engineered then inspected and then engine changed once all done thanks again gerry.

Well it looks like i am not gonna get this car now, as i believe its gonna be a dodgy inspection and i dont do dodgy inspections :(

Shame, just means now i am on the hunt for a proper evo 5 maybe 6.....

Will put a wanted ad up :)

get yourself an evo 6. there are some good ones for sale . i think a couple on the for sale section here to look at.

why an evo 6? when there are cheap 7s about. or even get a modded gsr .....easy to get over the pits and go really well.

If you bought that Gti you would have only bought the problems associated with it.
Imagine driving it the first time then being defected and unable to drive the car again... a waste of $$$.
Go for an already engineered car or a factory turbo car = less hassle with inspections, police, insurance and resale.

Exactly!!

The carsales guy rung me today and offered me the satria turbo for 9k today :) i was gonna bite his hand off but i still said no :(

But if anyone is interested i have his number....

I have driven this car, as it was at the car yard that is selling my girlfriend's Mini for her.
It goes well, but is only very mildly tuned.
It has some good gear in it for sure, but I suspect a loose or cracked turbo manifold is making this car sound very ordinary under the bonnet.
The guys selling it were doing the typical pushy sales pitch on me, but as I'm in sales myself, I saw them coming a mile away.
It's nice, and my GF really likes it, but needing to get a car engineer approved recently myself, I can see potential headaches with this.
Realistically, as the car is right now despite the goodies, and the extra performance, it's only worth about $8000 without an engineer's report.

They eventually said i could have it for $9k but its the headaches :(
I ended up buying a R33 gtr v spec :)

They tried selling that mini chilli cooper s to me as well lol

dud i would have taken it at the 9k insisted on the engeneers report and told them the first thing your doing is going to dot and requesting a pit inspection and that any and all faults will be refered to them for rectification under warrenty. not sure about for you guys but in qld it's illegal to sell a car without a roadworthy. thefore any and all faults in this case become the responsibility of the seller. it wouldn't have mettered if they did the dodgey because the dealership and the person who did the certification of roadworthy etc can loose it's licence over you getting the work checked for yourself by some you trust.

never ever trust a dealership for second hand vehicles make it clear to them proper inspections will be arranged by you and all problems will be refered to them.
