Me and my wife will be moving to the sunshine coast around january next year,I was hoping some of you from that general area could tell me what type of motorsport is on offer around there,I know of willowbank raceway and the queensland raceway but what I would like to know is how often track days and similar events are held.

I would love a drag car but the standard I set for myself I would never be able to afford it,a track only car would most likely suit me better as its driver ability mostly and I can have alot of fun for relatively cheaper outlay,I know your road legal laws are strict so I wont bother trying to have it road legal.are there enough track days and hillclimb type of events to attend?I dont want to buy a car then only use it 4 times a year.

thanks in advance for any help.

this our second attempt at getting out, just have a little more debt to clear and I can start saving to come over, the country has no future and has been raped dry by our government.

On second thoughts how hard is it to have track orientated cars road legal? my choices for cars when I get over will be...

1.series 5 rx7 with 20b pp
2.eg civic with b18/16 conversion
3.would like to have a mitsi but perhaps too pricey as a starting point

Im still trying to get my head around the car prices in oz,we have had it too good over here, searching through ebay the other day gave me heart attacks at some of the prices,I could never justify spending so much on imports that we get so cheap here.

Thanks rob323 I will have a looksie through there.

doin a civic would cost u way more than building a mitsi they have a good platform an doin a 20b pp rotor is prob even more dear...
man u can tarck day in a stock mitsi an have a blast an just build as youo go mate

What ever I get will be a project car so the initial outlay for a base car is what im concerned about, the cheaper the starting point the better for me,I thought a series 5 rx7 would be reasonably cheap compared to a vr4 or evo which is the only mitsis I would consider.

How cheap or expensive are hondas over there? here a friend paid 8k for an eg civic with b18 block and b16 head, typeR break conversion, race seats, race exhaust, steering wheel etc all certified and road legal,he let me drive it up twilight rd in clevedon(the aucklanders on here will recognize this road) and I had never been in a vtec before and I was impressed, the car was stupidly fast and handled so well.it made my old 450hp vr4 seem slow.It would make a great track car but would be limited in potential once you reach its limits.

stock manual eg will set you between 3000-8000 depending on their condition etc, most places sell b18c as a half cut for around 5000 then on top you will need suspention, brakes etc. so whichever way you go it'll be expensive.

b16 halfcuts go for about 2500-3500 just to give you an idea.

also car auction sell a lot of civics and sometime you can get a good deal.

I had an eg civic and was thinking about doing all that conversion but when i add up things just to get me goin, i found out that vr4 would me much cheaper options.

If you want an eg civic let us know:)

Damn your cars are costly, out of interest what do vr4's go for? have not come across any for sale yet so not sure on prices, are the ones circulating aussie tired now like they are here?

just have a look in our cars for sale thread a genuine clean evo 2 went for like 13 g's the other week you can get a pretty flash vr4 for around 10 id say most evo are still between 16-24k pending on whats done an a 2litre'd gsr would set u back round 10-15 again pending on condition

i got my vr4 for 8000 with 105000 and in very good condition and it was very stock but you can get them for around 10 as tufrice said and it would be much better investment then an eg civic.

another vr4 might be good, what are the spares like for them in oz?8k is still quite costly compared to over here but once im oz i guess im stuck with high prices so 8k isnt too bad,I can always fill up our container with vr4 goodies to bring over with me.

im a bit lost. were hearing aus is soo dear, what are the prices like in nz then? isnt the nz dollar stronger then the aus so therefore you pass less but its actually more aus dollars?

pending what u do as a job bro ull prob earn more money over here or you could sell coke... probably offset itself but fill up the container for sure park a vr4 in it
