lol, need dave remind josh that the magna of doom is faster than josh's vr4 atm?
:D :D :D

Ill have the gsr goin in a week or two to punish the v8's again.

got told my car was the crazy car at the strand on the weekend by some random.

ha ha ha, V8's.... there is only one V8H8A in townville, and thats me. i have the plates now... he he he..
but u can still try i spose... its fly when it eventually goes.. at the moment some of the burnt out tanks over here will go faster.. lol

Yeah rick i had a coldie right there waiting for you but you didnt grab it so i did..lol. there are very few challenges in v8s atm only a few reasonably quick ones your not missing much, hopefully when you get here there will be more of a challenge.

cracked gearbox ya'll, after having a look under the car (it was leaking oil) found out the rear mount on the gearbox is twisted and has put a few cracks in the gearbox. looks like its time for a new one. Gonna go some ralliart mounts while im at it.

cheers dave

ive jsut read through this thread and my god have use done gbox takeouts/installs the hard way..
gosh all u need to get is a beefy axe/pick handle, like i mean really big.
put it on the left front quarter panel edge and then the other end on the head..
put a u shackle through the the linkage bracket holes..
then tie a strap thing(i donbt know what they are called but used to tie shit down and they click then you pull it back and click it more and it rolls up the tape) to the axe handle with enough length already rolled up to let it down.. (this is nearly perfectly balanced which makes it work real well bring it back up)
tighet it till its tight.. undo the gbox bolts..
pull it off, use a jimmy bar to pry off the 2 dowels.
then just drop it using the thing. took me by myself about 15 mins to get the gearbox out once i had all the air filet and stuff off... none of this jack bullshit putting your self at risk..
haha learn from the master :p

First of all, the GSR mounts are all on the gearbox so you need something to hold the motor (3zercrowds engine crane was being borrowed at the time).
As Above.

But yeah its quicker and safer with the engine crane

15 mins after the air filter and stuff off my ass  What about crossmember, exhaust, transfer case, gearbox bolts, hydraulic line for the slave cylinder, rear hanger bolts, cv driveshafts and in some cases intercooler piping etc. Removing the box in a CC Lancer is a fiddly job that takes quite some time to do clearing out all the shit around it first, then angleing the back of the box down to clear the chassis rail :) Did it again 3 weeks ago with an engine crane and still a prick of a job, not for difficulty, just time consuming

Bit of an update on the clutch. the replacement was a exedy equivelent of a standard clutch. not heavey duty. One year later, after an uncountable number of drag runs and launches it is still holding.wtf. i thought it would have gone ages ago. the car is running consisstant 13.2 even ran a 12.9 oncei thought the clutch would be mincemeat. (yes i know i cant spell).

^^^^^^^^^^^
thats the on topic stuff to keep dane (3zercrowd happy) lol.

You guys are a jinx  . Yesterday afternoon my brother killed his clutch after only 3 months so we had to remove his gearbox last night to see what the go was  Next on the list will be a Exedy Heavy Duty Button :) Oh yeah, took a little under an hour to get the box out on the FWD EVO setup. Had 2 x hydraulic jacks under the gearbox  (no need to remove zorst and there is no transfer case to remove either)

nice job on the spring, with a fwd setup an organic heavey duty clutch would do the trick wouldn't it. probaly even last longer as well. mine is not even heavey duty and it has gone the distance. would improve drivability and i dont think it would affect times down the strip noticably at all.

Hehehehe

Well that was 3 months of everyday drivin, say around 7000klms...

Hopefully the next clutch would be better... the clutch above was a 2600lb XTD 6 puk race clutch...
