Hi Guys,

I wan't to make my RVR HSGR a little bit more practical and mount a towbar to it.
I've contacted a company in the UK that has 2 RVR Towbars on their price list.
But I don't know which one is the right one for my N23WG RVR HSGR.
They've emailed me the spec sheets of both bars.
But the information on the sheets are a bit contradictory.
They both say that it's for RVR Sports Gear and Space Wagon.
The one with N23W says that it's not for 4x4 models. However the N23W is a 4x4 model.
The other one that says it's suitable for 4x4 models lists only Space Wagon model numbers.

The only real difference I can tell from the schematics is part FJ.

Is there anyone who can give me a good advice on this?

< this HSG has a towbar, out of the 13 HSG i viewed before selecting this one; not many had them and one was custom built for it.

my guess would be that generally originally the HSG bodykit was aimed at the sportcar market (space shuttle bodykit) so didnt come with one & the SSG was aimed at the offroad market (ours have big bullbars) thinking people would camper trailers everywhere.

i believe it is a direct swap for all N23 shells HSG/SSG/OSG, if you look on ebay.co.uk there are usually some being parted out, if you want photographs of anything specific please let me know

Thanks 4th!

Unfortunately I didn't have much choice since this one is one of the 2 on the west mainland of europe. And the only one in the Netherlands. There are a couple more in the UK but that's it for the HSG over here.

The rear bumper bar is the same as the one on a SG and SSG, 4WD models with the spare wheel on the back.

The differences I can tell from the schematics between the two bars Watling company can deliver. Is part F J and the angle of the hitch point to the mounting point.
On the PCM36 bar it's in an upward angle.
And on the PCM36x4 it's straight.
Part F J is a 49mm spacer bushing and bolt.

If you could check if your towbar has an upward angle in it or not like in the illustrations or take some pictures. That would be a great help.
I can imagine that part F J is difficult to see.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks!

This bar is straight but the part with the knob looks like it's elevated compared to the rest of the bar.
Do you have the same bar fitted to your RVR?
If you could make some photo's it would be great.

$50,- sure isn't much for a towbar. But I guess the shipping cost to the other side of the world will far exceed the purchase price. If they would send it overseas.
And I don't know if It would get a certificate here in europe.
Therefore I'm looking for a towbar in the UK. That's at least in the European Union.

I had the same one as 4th posted up there, i had to take it off to change my exhaust to something slightly bigger, and the crossbar bit was in the way, so turfed it in the scrap.

@4th
Thanks! I send you a reply.

I hope I'll soon know. I've sent a message to Mitsubishi Motors Netherlands for the official specs.
Because I need to have those to change it on the registration papers which now lists 0.
I thought it was between 1200 and 1400 kilogram for a braked trailer.

I need both weights on the documents.

Mostly when I tow a trailer, I tow a braked trailer.
Unbraked trailers are not allowed to weigh more than 750kg by law over here.
Even when the car is allowed to tow more unbraked.

I've ordered the PCM36x4 Watling towbar.
It should be delivered within these couple of weeks.

I'm now having a hard time finding out what the RVR is allowed to tow.
I've read somewhere that the Space Runner 1.8 4x4 is allowed to tow 1400kg braked. And about 650kg unbraked.
But Mitsubishi Netherlands don't want to give me those specs for my RVR since it's registered as RVR not as Space Runner.

Yeh it was sold to me a few months ago... and it has a badge welded on there with the writing toyota corolla ae95.

What are the chances it could be similar to the n23w?
