Would be just as much fun as an evo (my personal opinion) and would cost a SHIT LOAD cheaper too! Plus you still learn the racing 'fundamentals' which is the whole purpose of the exersize.

couldnt agree more on this one - the fwd corolla is a great place to start, many parts avail if you stack it & lots of potential.
I used an ae82 fxgt in club racing in NZ and performed very competitively.
even with vtec civic's
the corolla was stock with a cage & good pads, most people were suprises at how quick it was and were looking under the bonnet asking what we'd done to the motor..... NOTHING!
in only two events, one at Taupo Raceway, 2nd in class and 8th or 10th overall and a hillclimb 5th overall behing targa setup is200, evo, legacy/libery etc
coz we drove it balls out and didnt care so much if it got stacked; which it did eventually haha
