Have a look in the cars for sale section there was a very nice red Evo 1 rolling on a set of these looked fully sik bro. Lol that's if your wondering what they look like

Seems as this is inline with national codes of practice. From what I've heard they are stricter on mods than the previous qld guide so get your wheels soon just in case
 
mine fit real nice, im wrapped with them. they are 17x7.5 in +40 (or +35).
thay are very similar in clearance on the inside as the 18x7 +46, but the out side lip is 12mm (1/2") further out. the 18s (18x7 +45) used to just touch the rails at full lock, so we see how these go and might have to move the rack stops slightly to stop the rub for legal reasons

the 17x8 +35 will stick out another 12mm! my gaurds are not evo, they are gsr. I wouldnt be game to try
dougmo said the 17x7.5 +38 and they are real similar to mine.

my 2c, 17x8 will either stick out @>+35 or rub on chassis rails @<+35. and +35 will probably do both.
 
Hey, when you say its tight, where exactly are you meaning, I checked your rides thread but the photos didn't really show it that well, unless my phone isn't showing me all your pics, could you measure the wheel to trailing arm gap for me if you have time? Thanks Adrian that's a good idea too, might give it a go :)

Anyone around the Brisbane/ sunshine coast area that could spare some of their Saturday and one of their rims for a test fit? Would be much appreciated!

Less than a finger gap between wheel an trailing arm, im also running 2 degrees of camber at the rear an 3 at the front, at that there is heaps of guard clearance at the front an some at the back, not ideal if its your daily tho, at full lock the fronts rub flat out on the chassis aswell.
You are welcome to come have a look if you want if your down these ways at any stage
 
From my experience the first thing to interfere with bigger aftermarket rims/tyres is the front suspension. Getting coilovers instantly solves this problem, as the front strut spring diameter is like double that of a coilover.

Next thing is the rear trailing arm. This cannot be modified (put simply) so is the limiting factor of how far your rims go in.

I'm running 17x10'' +15 offset, 255/40/17 all around (wide body kit) but the rear tyre is very snug, with approx 1-3mm gap to the rear trailing arm. Using this info you can plug in the values into the wheel/tyre calculator to give you an idea how far in wheels can fit without interefence into GSRs/early evos.
 
17x10 with p10 offset must look farkin phat! I'm assuming you had to cut the rear quarter panels underneath the widebody rears to accommodate that much wheel??? Do you chew through wheel bearings faster having such an increased footprint?? I would imagine they would be loaded up quite a lot more than usual on a gsr. Could you post up some pics Plz??
 
With regards to the crap options we are left with thanks to the rear trailing arms on gsr's is there any off the shelf trailing arm kit that gives you some more room?? Are Evo ones any different??
I wouldn't mind going wider if this is an option
 
Im running 17x7 (offset? unsure) 205/40 17 Hercules Raptis WR1 on a CC GSR. Fits perfect and stocky 14's fit straight on if I get a flat.
 
Realistically you don't need to go wider than 8" as its an AWD platform, unless ofcourse you're after that dish look.

Yeh I did have to do some modification to the rear guards as well as rear bumper (the tab that bolts to the body). I don't know of any off the shelf rear trailing arm that would fit the GSRs/ early evos..

the centre-to-centre track doesn't increase THAT much if you go wider on both sides of the wheel...

Im running 17x7 (offset? unsure) 205/40 17 Hercules Raptis WR1 on a CC GSR. Fits perfect and stocky 14's fit straight on if I get a flat.
My point exactly crap options this is all I can fit properly too I am sitting pretty low though which doesn't help but I'd like a 17x8 with a 215 or 225 tyre koya drift teks would look nice on a cc series lancer

the new trailing arms from racefab have 20mm extra inner clearance, mine should arrive in the next week or two hopefully :thumbsup:
 
yes they are. I am getting them for a better, more natural travel in the rear and the weight saving though.
But the plus side is i should be able to fit a 10" with a 275 tyre on the back :drool:
