Apparently there was a series 7 and 8 ( 8 only in Japan )
# Series 6 (19921995) was exported throughout the world and had the highest sales. In Japan, Mazda sold the RX-7 through its Efini brand as the Efini RX-7. Only the 19931995 model years were sold in the U.S. and Canada. Series 6 came with 255 hp (190 kW) and 217ftlbf.
# Series 7 (19961998) included minor changes to the car. Updates included a simplified vacuum routing manifold and a 16-bit ECU allowing for increased boost which netted an extra 10 hp (7 kW). In Japan, the Series 7 RX-7 was marketed under the Mazda brand name. The Series 7 was also sold in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Series 7 RX-7s were produced only in right-hand-drive configuration.

so i guess this brings us to

What is going to happen with the vr4?

Bigger turbo rebuilt engine ?? 2.6L BIG TURBO MONSTER WITH DOG BOX

any ideas or plans?

Umm for the moment, new exhaust mani (E2), dump/front pipe (has std dump and 2.5" front pipe)
FMIC and piping
Rear Mechanical LSD (-aws)
Might go twin pots
Fine tune AF/Timing in the std ECU on a dyno
New drivers seat (if i can find one i like)

Im not looking at spending 5k on a new motor
Just get it upto and back into some sort of competitive condition (Track/Hill climb/motorkarna/karnacross)

Attempt to give a few EVO's a run for there money

Did you need a manifold? Cause I have one just laying around.

From my memory I think they are , I may have a look and see if there's any info on it. It could be different because Evo 1's don't have the Big 16G.
