Wierd Stalling Issue

Right, took the rvr out to the drags yesterday (13.5 without launching) but the problem i had was in lining up ready to race.
A big block chevy was next to me and revved and all of a sudden my car stalled, thought that was wierd so i started it again and got the guy to rev it again, and this time it nearly stalled but got back upto idle.

What could possibly explain this? its like the vibrations of the v8 are causing idle issues...soo wierd. I've noticed small dips in idle when im at the lights and a truck goes past but never to the point of stall =/

HELP!
 
Have heard of this happening in evo 6's when next to Harley's and the like. Something about the afm, being vibrated, and not being able to accurately measure the air.
 
Wow, mine does the exact same thing! First time some rubbish box civic with possibly no exhaust as it was ridiculously loud roared past me as I idled at the lights and boom, stalled as if I'd just turned the ignition off.
Second time, a beautiful Aprillia bike split his way through the traffic and ended up in front of me at a red light and with his aftermarket pipes vibrating that sweet v twin burble, my idle was all over the joint, but not quite a stall that time. It has always been a mega WTF to me, but the afm vibrating sounds plausible...
 
i have 214awkw, my reactions i have got down to 0.591 but my 60 footers are 2.440 so thats why im not getting the times i should be :( should be doing high to mid 12s.
when mine had just under 180awkws i was doing 13.6s with an awesome launch but stock they would prolly do a mid 14
 
Essentially the afm works on air frequency in Hz. By having that frequency altered/ only reading a jumbled distorted signal, the ecu shits itself basically. It would probably be possible to recreate it with a loud sound system too imo.
 
use to have to problem but some how it faded off now.... so not really sure....

Sweet, sounds impressive... But what mods have you done to acheive this? Internal and bolt ons?? Id love to know as im looking at getting some similar times as yours with this Forged engine ive got
 
forged motor, still stock td05-big16g but 3" dump, with 3" dodgy exhaust, greddy ebc, apexi intake, tomei fpr, 650cc injectors, cam gears etc..not a great deal (214 was on 19psi also)

What mph you do @1/4 mile. My vr4 was doing 104mph 13.0@1/4 and rvr did 98mph 13.6@1/4 and both cars were doing 1.9 60". Compare yours and you'll know where you should be if you improve 60"

That's not bad. How about your manifolds and intercooler piping?
