4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I'm chasing only 100kw's at the wheels so it shouldn't be a problem..

thanks to

JAMIE
THARAKA

for comming down and helping me work on my car when i was working or Dre's car =) especiall JAMIE coz he did most the work...

atleast we got started on the removal hey!!
all the i/c piping out / coolant out / box oil out / RHS drive shaft out / lower brace out...

only thing left for me to do is pull off the gearbox scatter shield and gearbox bolts and the engine mounts...

the gearbox oil looked good, thats a good sign...
ill update you guys with the result!

might give it a shot today...

anyway, i gave paul a call (the guy who made the clutch) and he said if its the clutch, send it back and he'll fix the problem...

good news guys, car is back up and running!!

saturday, starting pulling off the gearbox to inspect the clutch and flywheel / fork / bearing when i noticed that the LHS drive shaft had broken in the cv joint... gave the wheel a spin and it span the shaft also, but very strangely... the boot was completely split with all the bearings exposed...

IT WAS A BUSTED DRIVE SHAFT!!!

but i still wasn't sure, as the car was moving very slightly...
since i was 1/2 way there, i decided to pull the box off anyway..
anyway, i pulled it off with some difficulty, everything looked fine..re greased the bearing and re installed the lot... got a spare drive shaft out and put it in and spent about 10 hours on the car that day to get all the piping back on, all the fluids in, all the wires and plumback lines... fired it up and to my surprise, as good as new!..

my first broken drive shaft..
at least i know what it feels like hey!!..

hopefully i dont break any more..

it'll be ready for heathcote for sure! unless i break something else...

i agree
im glad it wasn't anything expensive or time consuming!

benching the box is not fun at all...
i dont have any other way of doing it!! (need one of those gearbox jacks)

Call Jim Berry... fix it once!!

So true, I can't agree with this enough.

Dave Lee was having problems with his twin-plate, Jim rebuilt it making it a single place, and Dave ran a string of 10sec passes.

Jim doesn't fark around!

The whole time I was reading this thread, I was saying to myself, you have a broken driveshaft. You proved my diagnosis correct.
