So I just received a call back from Ryco regarding the filters.
There was a bit of a language barrier with the guy that called me, but he basically said that the first filter (the one that screwed on), was from a different factory to the other two filters, however the threads on all three filters were to within spec.
I questioned why I would have problems with one over the other and he said I need to make sure I screw it on perfectly straight or it won't screw on properly, he said that the first filter screwed on fine but the other two are a bit tricky. I then explained that I screwed the other two on straight but they never bottomed out and just kept spinning, it wasn't a matter of them cross threading. I then asked how they could still be the same specifications if the first filter screws on but the other two don't. As I said, there was a bit of a language barrier and the guy kept repeating himself every time I asked why I'd have this issue.
He said he'll send me three brand new filters from the "first factory" and I should try them and see if it solves my problem. When I asked if I need to make sure that when I buy filters from now on that they come from a different factory, he said "no you shouldn't have any problems, you just need to make sure you screw them on straight" - again we started going around in circles.
The plan now is to test these filters he's going to send, and if they work I'll use them for the next three oil changes and then go to Genuine Mitsubishi filters, as I cannot be bothered going through the trial and error with Ryco filters anymore.
Kind of annoying after all of that, but again probably something worth letting you all know about.
