Hey guys,
I'm currently restoring my E3 Recaro SR3 seats. So far I've already replaced the side bolsters which came up great and feels quite snug when strapped in.
I'm at the stage where I'm now replacing the backrest foam (drivers side) and have purchased what I was led to believe a SR3 backrest from Capital Seating in the UK.

Note that the original foam has a slightly pointier shoulder supports compared to the SR2?? foam. This is where my problem lies.

Almost immediately I noticed the backrest foam wasn't the correct foam for the SR3 (even though their site mentions they have these for 1995 Mitsubishi Evo III)
Upon liaising with the guys at Capital Seating. They have informed me that i need to supply a Recaro seat number (apparently on the underside somewhere) To which I cannot find on either front seats anywhere.

I require this number as Capital Seating need it so they can attain the correct backrest foam from Recaro in Germany. I'm all out of ideas and was wondering if anyone can shed some light for me.

Cheers

Problem is that will be the Mitsubishi part number, Capital Seating will need the Recaro number.
I know the part number for the rails; probably wont help you.

The only thing i can see that resembles a part number are the rails. Unfortunately capital seating can't do anything with it.
I would've thought Recaro could search by vehicle specs.....

They just want you to do all the legwork!

[SIZE=11pt]^^Yep! They certainly do. I really can't see how hard it is :(
I just hope it helps many SR3 owners out there once the right backrest is found.

This label is found underneath the seat/bum foam towards the front. Twas my first guess to provide Capital Seating but with no avail.

what about on the sewn in adr label found towards the back on the base. mine are sr1's found in evo1 so maybe completly different

See if there is a part number on the inside of the recliner cover - thats where there appears to be some embossed text on other models.

I found these for sale on Ebay and noticed that one seat displayed the Part number i think i require.

It's from another vehicle other than Evo lll but i still believe it could provide me with the right info so i can pass it onto Capital Seating/Recaro Germany

Does anybody else have genuine SR3 seats and are able to double check to see if their seat(s) display that same label?

I saved some pics of a genuine yellow EVO 3 GSR a while back on Carsales. It had a chassis number in it that works in Mitsubishi ASA parts finder.
When I enter the chassis number it gives me all the part numbers that were associated with that car, interior, accessories, engine etc.
Hope this pic I put together helps you.

Thanks for the pic EVO-00X. I've sent it through to the guys in the UK. Anything is better than nothing right?

Fingers crossed this point them in the right direction.

I emailed the guys at IdealSeat.com.au (Australian Recaro importer) and this is what he had to say.

"Unfortunately the moulded foams are no longer available for your seat. However, my suggestion would be to take the foams you have received from the UK to a motor trimmer and get them to pad out the shoulder areas to suit your seat. The seats you have are in fact SR2 / SRD or an old Sport and due to their age RECARO no longer make the foams. Whilst we are carry replacement foams here in stock in Melbourne, we only have the same foam."

I don't remember Evo lll's having SR2 seats. Me thinks he's still got his wires crossed. I did however ponder the idea of getting some latex foam and an electric cutting knife to 'sculpt' the so-called pads and give it the extra foam needed....
