my 2.8's a freakishly short, redline first is about 50km's, 3000rpm at 100kph in 5th.

no way, dont say that, impossible, my box and diffs are un-molested so should be the stock 2.8's
if a W5M33 was built with 2.8's then it would be never ending gears for sure, but im sure the stock C73A runs a different final drive ratio which effectivily makes the 2.8's the same gearing as a 3.9
dunno why they did that, maybe to try and keep the tail shaft speed down :?
mitsi did shift to 3.5's in the C73A's but on after 1990, the pre 1990's should be 2.8's
