tyres dont affect your speedo though, thats geared off your gearbox, so we can rule that out... hrmmm

have you actually checked the model number on the box?

i know russ has a VR4 RS (3.9's) with 3.5's installed and he does 2650rpm at 100kms...

sounds similar to what you have.

jus doesnt sound like 2.8's

i can do

1st 50/60kph
2nd 80/90kph
3rd 120/130kph
4th 160/???kph
5th ???

thats ringing its tits off!

use a 3.909 box with 3.545 front and rear diffs, 2500rpm @ 100km/h, and no need to hook fifth on the strip until your cars doing much quicker times.
that is perfect

so, an RS gearbox, and the standard front and rear diffs?

evo box (evo0, or 1,2,3 - I had an e2 box).

non evo0 RS's have 3.545 final drive too (have an 88 RS rear diff with a big "3.545 lsd" sticker on the back of it.

Do e123 boxes bolt upto vr4s with any issues?

Is there anywhere for the mounts and the like?

I love that idea of running super low revs @ cruise. Esp with all my bloody highway kms.

You might find that running lower revs on the highway would increase your fuel consumption. I remember reading somewhere that the ideal cruising revs is somewhere around where peak torque is produced.

You could probably datalog injector duty cycles for both rev ranges and see if the engine is actually working harder at the lower revs and using more fuel.
