umm, got a temp ecu and afm of blackvr4, which helped the problem but didnt fix it, still got phantom knock, shit loads of it.. i cant seem to find the cause, engine runs whisper quiet..
so what i did, bought a tubotech boost controller and blew my turbo :p
that eased the pain..
but it still did the phantom knock but then after it got over it it fucking took off like a bulet on 12 psi.. and kaboom after 5 mins of hard boosting..
so waiting for new turbo, while that ive actually cleaned everything up in the engine bay, tigthened every bolt and check lots of wires, ground etc. everything seems to be in twine..

so how does it work? im boosting hard one day, no knock,.. then eventually engine starts picking up knock and fucks everything up..

quick vid on the bearing that was totally absolutely hammered..

it was spooling fine, it boosted strong to 12 psi until i heard this crack/bang like i ran over a stick.. then i could hear comp wheel just smashing against housing.. and it like stalling and stopping thats when im like fuck, a blade could snap off and fuck my engine up, luckily i was 50m away from home and rolled there.

Flutter LOL.. you mean the lack of BOV.. I ran no BOV.. no issue.. I had oil issues long ago.. only time i dropped a turbo.. maybe your turbo was already worn..
 
yeh, lol, nah well it might of just been a coincedence...
my turbo was well oiled when taken apart so it wasnt an oiling issue.. maybe it was worn and it was its time.. would have easily had over 100,000k's on it and was boosted to 14 psi daily on the previous car it came off..
so i guess it was coming..
 
LOL. i was just saying mine died due to oil.

man thats tough. Get yourself a big 16g ;) and refit a newer BOV for piece of mind. maybe the turbo COULD have been jamming up a bit.. was the shaft blue at all?
 
lol yeh, was jus saying that min probly wasnt an oiling issue..
yeh prolly geting a s16g..
nah shaft was just black like oil in the middle of both bearing where it was metal colour..
if the new turbo fixes the knock problem then ill be happy..
 
well fucking well..
picked up mrcyborgs turbs today, put it on..
and my fuckin god lol, seems its alot better and fuck
1st gear half throttle 10psi, spins to redline, same with 2nd gear easing on and 3rd well lets say it started but i got scared...
it must be putting out some decent power now..
also my clutch is slipping..
so im gunna buy a new one wednesday..

well it still misses and sounds like a stutterbox if i plant it below 4k, easing on then planting it after 4k its a rocket.. so i guess i wont be dragging no one, cos of the line i can only baby it, bit dissapointing but meh..
my engines holding strong to 15psi and no fuel cut??
hurm wierd..
but still ill enjoy and cant wait for 5th gear skids in teh wet!!

Fuel cut? Why would it hit that?

I reckon you may have overlooked something with your conversion. Did you need to swap the ECU pins over?
 
well dont you hit fuel cut on a stock ecu unchipped at around 15psi.?
well nah only pin i dont have connected is the closed idle switch for the afm but it was running sweet before and i cant think when it just started, im gunna go get it dynoed i think, see if blackvr's computers and shit can check whats wrong..
my engine is Perfect now, i mean it, not one leak, not one sound, not one stray wire..
i cant get my head around it..
ill keep this thead posted.
