Help Support 4GTuner:

Excellent, thanks Cranked! Your info, plus Jacks, sent me off on a search and I found this thread:

http://www.4gtuner.com/topic/18875-cracked-firewall/

that completes the picture for me and I think I know what I need to do now...

I have to admit I am finding it hard to believe that the original design had just the spacers on the clutch pedal box against the firewall and not a complete plate!

Or have I misunderstood?

Yes I agree it is quite a poor original design and the mod really isn't that difficult. Dave, u can thank Jack really as I just followed his link and replicated it. My car puzzle is nearly complete.

...so how close is "close" when your talking about the space between the td05 dump and the 4g93 oil filter? I know its not ideal but I'm a couple gaskets away from installing everything. Gimme sumthin' fellas...please!!!!! :( :( :( :(

I dont know what td05 dump i have, but its not a stock part. I had the little z411 filter (whatever number, but the little one). It was close enough to scratch a thread line in the paint on the filter as i screwed it on. Good enough reason to get a remote filter...

stock tdo5 dump fould on the filter to the point where i had to grind away a heat shield mount.

i run a similar one to 3volutionist now minus oil cooler and gives plenty of room.

advice get a GOOD quality remote kit with good thick lines.

I was looking at these a while ago, they look pretty tidy.

Anyone ever used one? Quality?

fould?
fowled?
fouled?
what a strange language english is

Well if I have around $100 or so to spend on either a filter relocator kit or dump then it may as well be the dump seeing as it'll come with the gaskets that I need to finish the job. I read somewhere as well that its not absolutely necessary to add oil cooler to my application as its only a daily and not seeing huge amounts of boost or racing. Otherwise I would go the relocator/cooler route and just use the evo dump I have here. Its good to get stuff that the fellas are already using and works. Cant go wrong with the tried and true!

Finally could get to this: don't have any welding gear, and can't weld anyway, so went for some aluminium plate (x2 at 5mm + some alumininium sheet to pack it) to sit flush with the top of the bolt collars. Put some tape on it to make a moisture barrier because I'm putting aluminium against steel. I'll see what happens, though from what I can work out this should be OK.

Pleased with the job and clutch does fell better (though that could be psychological!)

Thanks again for all the help gents
