I think that free speech is a good thing if exercised carefully. I also think that defamation can be very damaging. (Might be funny until it destroys your livelihood). Anyway I think that it's a topic worthy of discussing.
I have not brought this up in an attempt to attack any particular individual.
Its more of a culture thing.
Here is some reading on the topic.

Interesting read cheers mate.

On the other side though remember people suing for "defamation" can ruin the defendants life too.

Have a good read, i'm actually passing on this as I've done my research and gotten legal advice previously on two occasions.

From what I understand of the subject i'm perfectly comfortable with the way things are here.

I can see your point there. I think that it is best not to publish defamatory remarks in the first place. Maybe the group or individual that the gripe is with should only be implied and not proprly identified. The media is always very careful about that kind of thing. They have a story to tell, but can't mention anyones names.

I think if you have a problem with a company, you should TRY to work it out with them first.

If not there is the ACCC or small claims and then it gets worse from there.

Also keep the companies name off the forum and keep to PMs if anyone wants to know, then there is no defamation in the public eye.

But you always have to be careful.

As Lorrie said Inadmissible in court. (too much law and order  ) Whatever Aus law is anyway
