Hi all, i'm just wondering if someone who has taken off the plastic center console face (the bit that surrounds the climate controls/stereo) could help me

Basically, i want to repaint it, and i can get it off fine by unclipping the fan vent bit..

However, getting it back on is very difficult, so i was wondering if its possible to take out that whole plastic rectangle that clips on behind the fan vents, as far as i can see it is only held in by a single wire in a rubber tube, which connects to that scrolling button on the right of the fan vents

I can't figure out how to disconnect that wire though, i thought it would disconnect where it is attached, but it is held in by some weird plastic thing and i don't want to break it by trying to unscrew it or just pull it out, in case thats not the way it's done..

If i could actually take that out, i could take it away with the plastic center console face, and actually sit down at a bench and clip it all back quite easily

So if anybody knows how to disconnect that wire, it would be greatly appreciated

hi.. i think i understood that correctly.

I assume youre talking about the vent wire which connects to this:

If so, then bob down where the drivers pedals are.... and look to your left.. and you'll see some white things which look like tupperware containers hehe i assume theyre related to the heater or something...
anyway, thats where the end of that wire slips onto (has like a ring at the end):

sorry for the bad pic.

should be able to slide on and off the lever thingy pretty easily with your finger

Ah yes that is exactly what i was talking about, awesome thanks for clearing that up for me, and for the pics!

It will make it so much easier to reconnect that plastic vent bit once i can get that damn wire disconnected :D

mate where in sydney are you..
maybe i can help you quickly do it if you arent too far out.

Thanks for the offer mate, but i ended up doing it pretty easily, it turns out it wasn't actually connected to anything down there, so all this time when i thought it was connected, all i really had to do was pull it a bit harder and it would have come out lol

But i got right under the dash and could see where the end of it was, so now when i put it back i can connect it up properly
