GSR/Evo engine mounts

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

The 4G63 engine mount at the timing cover is 50mm thick also = same as the 4G93T engine mount.
The diameter is 80mm also. This means the 4G93 and 4G63 holes are the same size.
Therefore, you will need a 13-501 prothane bush for your 4G93T mount.

Thanks heaps dude... That awesome.. So the full kit (non insert one) will be ordered....

I'll have a read of your link as well, cheers for that...

Not sure what the go is with your cut an paste issue.. Weird.. I can say I'm not having the same issue But I don't get any of the bold buttons or anything like that while I type a reply etc in either basic or advanced.. I have to type them in manually.. I'm on an iPad though if that makes any difference...

Again thanks for sorting that for us...

If that's what you drivers side looks like I'd hate to see what the ones that get real work look like
Nar it's the passenger side.... Rest are sweet.. Drivers side is almost new but I want to replace them all for solid ones....

I am guessing that these engine mounts only let go when one is making serious power ? ie >> 150 kw atw ? Have I guessed right ?

Yeah age for sure. They flog out even on stock engines. They were weak as piss from factory, but helped take out engine vibrations through the chassis.
You don't care much for vibrations when you have a modded engine. lol

Hi!

I bought a kit that came without the none insert one. But the one I got insted seems to be to small.
Whats the problem, i've got an Evo 1.
Do I need to buy an 13-501 as well?

In recent times I have seen some 1G DSM/Eclipse kits come with 4 full mounts, which includes a proper mount for the front transmission instead of the dodgey half ass insert. Here's an example of a kit with 4 x mounts: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PROTHANE-MOTOR-MOUNT-INSERTS-ECLIPSE-DSM-4G63-90-94-RED-/141103249175?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20da68b717 . Now, whether or not that transmission mount is the same as those to suit a GVR4/GSR/EVO I am unsure because nobody has yet to confirm what the part number is for it or dimensions.

After doing some searching it appears that the 1G DSM/Eclipse front transmission mount (on the crossmember) has been revised to the part number 13-505 as pictured below. I've sent an email to 2 suppliers to get them to confirm the diameter and thickness to see if it is what we need instead of modifying a 13.501
Waiting response.

Update: Response I received means that it DOES NOT HAVE the same dimensions for an EVO/GSR front transmission mount on the crossmember.
EVO/GSR need a 80mm inner diameter with 40mm inside thickness. I've sent another enquiry to them with the measurements we need to see if they have anything available.

The dimensions for part number 13-505 are as follows:
Outer diameter: 75.5mm
Inner diameter: 21.4mm
Height: 50.5mm
Estimated “inside diameter” (according to your picture): 70.5mm
Estimated “inside thickness”: 39.35mm

Thank's for the reply.

I have the kit with full mount, but the inside diameter was to small so I took the 13-501 and sliced it.
So the crossmember are fitted and thats okey.

Now when I was going to start fixing the cambelt side mount I thought the 13-503 would go there.
But it looks that the 13-503 are too big, it's 90mm inside diameter.
I havent got the old bushing out yet but when I tryed to mesure it I get it to 80mm inside diameter.
So I took of the mount on the top of the transmission and thought the 13-503 could be there.
But mesured that one I got it to 80mm aswell.

So now I wondered if I hade got it wrong that this kit woulden fit EVO 1, but you tell me otherwise.

From what it appears on Prothane's parts catalogue, they have 2 different kits for an Eclipse... the 1G and the 2G.
Here are the part numbers listed in 2 different tables. As you can see there are some different part numbers between the 1G and 2G.
Their parts numbering and mounts have changed to what used to be available a few years back.

AS FROM NOW ON, GSR/EVO OWNERS DO NOT BUY ECLIPSE KITS ANYMORE!!!
I have updated post#12 on Page 1 with new info.

No probs. I feel bad for anyone who purchased an Eclipse kit recently for their GSR/EVO. At least by reading the info on page 1 now it settles this uncertainty once and for all for years to come.

Part Number SPF1050

Body Diameter [A] 80

Inside Diameter 37

Clip Length [C] 38

Flange Length [D] 5

Flange Diameter [E] 84

Found this on the SuperPro website. Sort of nearly close enough to try for the front mount on the north south bar do you reckon? Or just stick to trimming the 501?

Probably best to just stick with the Prothane inserts George to avoid any confusion or chasing up 2 separate suppliers.
I'm waiting to hear back from Prothane if they have the correct size we need "off the shelf". Which probably wont happen til the end of the week due to Easter and the yanks being one day behind.

I guess the hardrace kit has been covered here? I got the shits trying to find a whole kit from a single supplier that wasn't trying to charge me a $million shipping for prothane or nolathane.

Found a dude named Evan in NZ on trade me, did me a hardrace 4pc kit for $190 plus good shipping. Supposedly harder than oem, but probably not as good as prothane.

So, if you get the shits on easy like me, not a bad option.
