Hahaha having nightmares about doing your timing belt, that cracked me up
Huh? I didn't have nightmares.. I just had a dream about doing the job and remebered that in the dream I was paranoid about everything I did,, but then I started it up and drove it home,, no problems.. ended up being a happy dreamm,,, ummm no ,, not that kind of happy dream ,, lol So at this Amayama mob,, you gotta submit an enquirey and then wait for them to send a reply before you can actually buy from them?? Is that right?

I'm finally doing the timing belt. Have it on and all seems to be right,, all the marks line up and I have turned the crank 12 complete rotations with no problems. I have replaced both A and B belts , all pulleys, hydraulic tensioner, and the crank shaft sensor. main reason I finally got around to doing the timing is that I lost all spark on the way home from work, so I figured, I would just replace the CAS at the same time. Still not 100% sure that is the problem though.
Trying to figure out if this car is OBD2 ? it has an OBD2 type connection, will a OBD2 scanner work on this?
One of the biggest problems that I've found with doing this job is putting the bottom timing cover back on. I broke the original one taking it of, so have a new one to put back on. Do you need to remove the air con pulley? if so, is it much of a problem to re-assemble ?
Anyways, thanks for all your help

I got it on with some very minor damage. very hard to get it around the waterpump housing, aircon compressor and the alt. can I use a voltmeter on this OBD outlet to read an error code? if so, does anyone know which pins?

well, I was right about the crank angle sensor. I had the engine on a little trolley jack and had it sitting there for 2 weeks while I got some parts sent from partsouq. I didn't realize that the jack had lost some pressure and lowered the engine. that was the main reason for the problems with getting the lower case on. I only realized, just how far it had dropped when I put the engine mount back on. I am hearing some noises but think it is just the aircon tensioner pulley and I think the 'fan belts' could use replacing, but other than that, she's purring along. got a new nooby question though,, what does the open/closed button on the centre console do?

Sorry for not replying earlier penngwyne, The bills get higher, rates, water, elect ect and only a $1 pay rise in the last 8 years. I keep looking but there simply isn't anything better out there (work wise). So, unfortunately, I am only just trying to keep this car, (which is my daily ride) going. I think that the button that folds in the mirrors is right next to the 'open/close' one, the mirrors fold in, works fine. So far , I have replaced the battery, new radiator, new cheap lash adjusters from ebay , (USA) which are farqed ,(will be buying the topline ones from meek next time). repaired the exhaust, (had a hole), new timing belt, balance belt, tensioners, pullies, Crank Angle Sensor, rear rotors and pads , (needs new fronts) think the oil pump is on the way out, the AC tensioner needs replacing, getting a nasty little nock noise when I start it, had to super glue that 'recirclelating dump valve " back together, (is a auto) Front shocks are leaking. I want to throttle that stupid Viatnamese bitch that pulled out in front of me and totalled my commodore. Shit loads of other misc shit to do to the rvr and now it has these interesting little bubbles on the roof appearing , lol. BUT, a 2006 Ford XR6 tried it on , in a short merge lane the other day, I didn't 'blow it away' but he give it all and couldn't get past and had to yield, when the double lanes came back , he had to overtake and sit infront of me, I sat behind him for a couple of K's laughing my head off. lol

Thanks for your help, mate

Just reading some older posts and wondered how you were getting on?
Those roof bubbles not sounding good.
When I originally tried to insure the hsgr with Shannon's they told me I wasn't an enthusiast HA!!!
I think if you own one of these you have to be.
Still like the RVR, but about to do some suspension work on it I think I have leaking shocks.
And my interior is looking a bit sad too.
I recently found that having an air filter you can't see through makes a huge difference to the already poor fuel economy
BUT you have to pay for your pleasures (when the turbo cuts in)
regards

Hell yeah Bursons for the win!! Worked there for nearly 6 months now after working at Autopro for a year, simply the best auto parts store in Australia. If you ever need help chasing a part up shoot me a pm and I'll do everything I can to help you out. I run a Z142AST which is the 25 micron rated Z142A filter. The standard filter being 30 and the Z142AHE being a 20 micron rating filter.
