Looking for a 4G63 to rebuild.

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Yeah, it's still fun George, but being slow is frustrating the crap outta me.

I can't blame the car, even not making the power I want, I should be doing better times against some of the other cars. I got beat by an RX2, big HP jobbie, but on a drying track and 4WD, not where I want to be.

Time for some paid tuition. I'll see if wifey can sneak some in for a B'day pressie!!

mate....sometimes "trying too hard can make you slower' if you are doing that .........concentrating on lines... braking points and other sundry shit isnt a natural thing. some call it overdriving. just go out and have fun. worry about who beat who later. I rallied and stuffed car after car for about five years before I thought I was good enough for a crack at the other guys. I got there in the end...but had fun along the way

Tis true Brian. That last video I posted was the last run when I wound it right back and relaxed. One handed and kicked back just enjoying a run without issues with the car, and was my best time by far.

It's difficult to do, especially when there's this voice in the back of my head screaming......... "Mooaarr Revs!"

being relaxed in the car is a great way to be fast George, imo if your choking the wheel its not a way to be fast

I hear you George. Hopefully when I get the car sorted and more reliable i'll relax some more.

Speaking of which, dropped the 5W-40 tonight and hacked the filter apart to see whats going on. Not a good sight, lots of crap I didn't want to see, no bearing material or anything, but lots of cast grit and a few ally flecks. I will do a few events and do another one and see if it's the same. I hope it's just the last of the crap in the block getting filtered out. This oil has done about 100 race km's. On thread advice I'm going to try the Penrite HPR 10 and see if my hot oil pressure improves.

Also did the carrier bearing tonight. Easy job and found I didn't need a press, just a good dolly set. All back in and feels much better.

Some laps from the racing on the weekend. Held up pretty good this event, I like driving in the wet, mostly because it makes the gazillion more horsepower that everybody else has seem less of an advantage. In the rain, we were in the top 3 times but then as it started to dry out, I started to try harder to stay with the big boys and made a mistake which saw me reversing out of a corner, lost me ten 10 seconds. Could of had me in the top 5 for the 37 cars in the morning session, which considering some of which where 996 turbos, late model evo's and wrx's, we were well happy with that. Format is aggregate of best 3 laps out of 4. Secret new weapon was some suspension changes and a new set of hankooks.

The noise is the larger 45 series tyre rubbing on the mudflap when it dives under brakes. Need to fix. Other than that car went well, even when I stuffed it into 1st at 100km/h instead of 3rd. Sorry car.

Some pictures of the imitation and the real thing. Genuine Ralliart Australia EVO, and his fake twin brother.

Sort of Ben, it's not mine but helping out with it. Mate in my street got a hold of it and is going to try and get it back to as close to it's original best as possible. For example, there is an Xtrac box and diffs on their way to Perth from Portugal, and he's the type of guy that won't stop until it's close to 100%. His last project was an original 1986 WRC Audi, he doesn't fuck around, so I'm happy to swing some spanners just to be involved. Its one of the four original Australian Ralliart EVO's, so it will be cool to help get it back on the roads of WA.

Best of my knowledge Jack, the car (apart from motor and 'box) is as it was from Ralliart Australia, so guessing the front lowers are theirs as well. Big solid ally things all on solid joints. Porn type shit for me, particularly given my lower front issues.

Those photo's where off my phone awhile ago. Will take some more now it is all stripped down. There are some very cool ideas for those that like to fabricate.

Got to have a squirt at Wanneroo on Wednesday evening. Nothing spectacular except for the size of the flames on down change, I really need to get back to the dyno and tune that out. Nearly copped a cocky in the drivers window into the braking area at the final turn. Times around 1.12 which is nice and slow.

You're driving that so casually. What happened to putting your race face on? lol :)
Whats that big square unit on the glovebox?

Was just chillin' out really. Didn't have time to swap the Z221's for the R888's so wasn't pushing the car at all. The Hankooks are way to soft for Wanneroo, they'd be soft mushy canvas doughnuts after a half dozen hard laps, and I'm trying to make them last till January. I'm also trying to give up my 'cranky driving', its slow and very hard on the car. :)

The Box is a Terra Trip rally computer, and the little display on top is for O2, but it's cactus and is soon to be replaced with a innovate jobbie.

Well, the 13/14 rallysprint series is off to an awesome start.

We got recce done, rolling up to the line for start, won't go into gear. Thats where our first event of the series finished.

Yet to pull the box, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to find a pressure plate minus a few fingers. Exedy HD button on the way as replacement. While the front end is out, I have been able to get some E3 LCA's, so will swap them over too.
