anyone in melb knows what i am talkin about how good was the rain 2day vr4s in the wet are ******* fun but also wierd brings a new meaning to sideways hey

90degree wips down the maroondah hwy

my vr4 used to be good in the wet, tends to bag up the tyres now though with the 17's on it.

i have the stock rims and crappy tyres im not running my 18z for rw reasons 8) 8) 8)

fun
i am also running stock boost not so fun they dnt rev out anywhere as quick as when running good boost also i think its not reving as fast is cause it is tunned for 17psi what do u think

what i don't get is its all wheel drive, you turn a corner and put the boot in nice and early and the back goes out. Where is the physics.

I mean your turning the front wheels so your lowering the traction point. So you should be getting tonnes of understeer no?

But once the front wheels lose traction, the rears kick in.

Think of it as pulling the handbrake, then putting the power down.

although i could be wrong :D

The RS must have a weird suspension setup. This is what my car does and I spent 2000 dollars to make it do it!

Step 1: Check your tyres... are they a good wet pattern? Lots of tread left?

Otherwise this is explained through Rear LSD (Like my VR4), stiff swaybars and strut braces.

Technically the VR4 will divert power to the "least" tractioned wheel although still trying to retain 50/50. This is the joys of an LSD. The Viscous coupling isn't instant though and will take half a second or a second to kick in which is why we can get it out :) Once it kicks in your whole car will spin all 4 up (providing you've got the front/rear lsds) or 3 in my case (both back and a front) and proceed to travel sideways. :D

Tis wonderful...

And I think that made sense.

i think the rs would have viscous rear lsd and open front..
therefor some sideways oversteer action

bazeng is right , my E1 rs had front and rear LSD and that thing used to kick out like a rear wheel drive, loved ripping up footy fields up in it :p

the scariest thing was my 6.5 driffting , nearly put it into many a poles. to many computers trying to correct the car.

4WD drifts kick ass

plough understeer is caused by bad front tyres more than anything, we're talking about controlled oversteer once the initial bit of understeer is gone. YANKING on the steering wheel when going straight will never mean a turn in the wet, you either need to go into it gradually and then yank on it or "fling" the car into it... steer opposite way then pull back the other.

-- ALL -- cars will understeer like a snowplow in rain if you just wrench the steering wheel to one side suddenly as they need to disperse the water from beneath the tyres and you just suddenly changed the direction the tyres are spinning!

mm

i dnt get oversteer or undeersteer thats wat 3grands worth of suspension and diff is for lol the fucke kicks out masive and just keeps going its made but feels very stange lol but as i said i am runnin crappy 15s not the 18z i would normaly run

Obviously unaware that the smaller your sidewall the worse your car handles.

It'll handle worse with 18's than with 15's. Also ride like rocks.

And i'd be interested to see what "3 grands" worth of suspension and diff is. What exactly did you buy?
