What power should I be getting?

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

If its got a 68 mm dia compressor wheel, I take the compressor cover off your hands :D . ALl I need is a compressor cover and I can build up a spare big 16G.

argh you crazy bastards, back off! lol. I don't fkn know the measurements, jesus! hahaha.

edit: wait did you say spare 16g? wanna sell it? bahahaha

I currently have a VR-4 engine in a cordia with an EVO 3 20g, microtech, 3 inch exhaust, EVO 5 cooler etc. At 19psi, it recorded a 'soft' 203KW's at the front wheels (best run). The power tapers away from 6-7000RPM so there is a restriction somewhere. Could it be the 2 inch I/C piping that i have or the restrictive elbow leading into the standard VR-4 plenum chamber? It should be making over 220Kw's at that boost level. Anybody got any ideas?

what cams

get 2.5" piping all the way

lol, yeah, hows that work tho, I give you a turbo and you sell it back to me  hahahaha, seriously I would be interested in a big 16g. I'll trade you my small 16g, the TD05-14b, for your big 16g and i'll swing u a bit o cash too :D haha. what a funny deal...

I have standard cams and standard cam gears. Is it mandatory to have 2.5" plumbing to run over 200ATW's? Is there anything else that could be causing a restriction?

Thought i'd post a pic:

Yeah, I am still using the stock throttle body elbow. Can it be modified? I know the EVO 3 elbow is bigger, but I don't fancy my chances in tracking one down.

Evo's dont have an elbow, the pipe just goes straight onto the throttle body and is held down with a clamp

ebay vs. stock vs. 2g

Thanks for all your help Tharaka. :p I just spoke to Meek automotive who are fabricating an elbow as we speak, to suit my existing cooler plumbing. I'll have it fitted and dynoed in a couple of weeks to see if any gains (or losses) are made.

Cheers.

I really think if you're on a 20g you will see big gains just by going to 2.5" piping all the way

what kind of intercooler are you using?

I have a genuine Evolution 5 intercooler (recently installed-has no leaks).

That may be the case, but I don't particularly want to increase to 2.5" piping if the 2" isn't the main restriction. If it is, well......then I don't have a choice but to upgrade. I'll soon discover that once the new TB elbow is installed. I might be a little optimistic, but I am looking for around 230-240KW's at the wheels.

Brad, it's Jon. I really think that you need 2.5" cold side piping and say 2 1/4" hotside. The new elbow is going to help you a lot.

ok... here is a really noob question... but what is the optimal "efficiency zone" of a small 16g?

EDIT Copy and paste link and put into the address bar

Thanks 3zer... but the image apparently no longer exists :(
i'm just wondering what the max psi i can run through the small 16g is before it leaves the efficiency zone (If that makes sence).

*3zercrowd* Try it now dude^^^^^
