What will $950 do for you?

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I'm not sure anyone 9not even Turnbull and co) disagree in principle to stimulus (or is that stimuli :) packages- what is in question is whether this is the right amount and whether it's going to be spent on the right things that have the desired effect.
Ludicrous for labour to give wider parliament the proposal at midday and say you need to sign off on this right now (effectively.)
Personal view, it's random and panic. And it's a final throw of the dice. We have to be realistic and that is we are tied to the global economy...if we spend this money, and international events impact us negatively (as i am sure they are/will) - we are not only spent out, but have nothing left in the tank.
Just chucking money at the problem is not going to solve it.
However they've been pinning for months now....it's really all about confidence at the consumer level and hoping retailers and manufacturers etc (well, whats left of them) can keep going...

Someone said reduce the superannation rate in the earlier thread - my view is that it could never happen...seen what happens in most other countries? There is very little govt super/pension - the government need to reduce their liability to support aging populations...reducing the rate, increases their exposure to support the elderly. so make it someone elses problem - like employers. 9% isn't enough anyway to secure a comfy retirement - no way.
Totally agree though, banks and super funds are totally irresponsible - but what else can the govt do (in fairness) -Turnbull says you can't support their profits...but what can you do ? you can't let them go to the wall - that will cause the whole thing to collapse.

Very very interesting times. Personal view, if we were NOT to go into recession, should not have slowly killed local manufacturing and primary production. Aus cannot self sustain right now and are very dependany on imports/export.
I for one, have no confidence in being in my job in 3 months. Sorry - just the way i see it and i've been planning for it for 6 months now.

Still, I've got Tonka, expecting some new bits in the popst any day now, hopefully getting GSR bars, new wheels and springs. Then who knows...MORE POWER! so theres always something to smile about.

I agree with above. I am studying accounting and finance and Rudds dick of a plan is no more than a bandaid solution. It is possible for Australia to technically not fall into recission unemployment will rise significantly. On the other hand i am a full time student and I NEED $$$$. Spent $600 on textbooks for this semester alone.

not saying turnbull will block a stimulus, he believes a stimilus package is needed as well, just one taht is spent wisely and not stupidly

this reminds me of the other stim pack, my mate came back from a night of clubbing on a friday night from st james and he said to me, "wow st james was packed to the tits and had a line that went all the way back to where u can barely see the end"

2 days later we read the stim pack was issued that week lol

1/4 of its gonna be spent on booze, another 1/4 is gonna be spent on booze for girls by guys trying to get laid and another 1/4 is gonna be spent on ciggies -.-

Correction on the amount / qualify figures:
"Workers earning up to $80,000 a year can expect a handout of $950, those on a salary of $80,000 to $90,000 will receive a $650, and $300 will be awarded to people earning between $90,000 and $100,000. Those on incomes above $100,000 will not receive a bonus."

That's BS!!

So you go to Uni and study hard for 5 years to get a degree, earning and living on part-time wages, in order to get a well paying job at the end of it all, only to pay a huge amount of tax every fortnight so that single mothers, dole bludgers and the like can sit on their asses at home every day - then when it comes time to dish out more of your tax dollars you get stiffed again and receive nothing because you "earn too much"!

Way I see it, everybody should be entitled to the same payout figure. It's like a penalty for being lucky enough to be in a job that pays well.

welcome to the real world
now you've done the easy bit ( UNI )try owning and running a business - you'll find the part time work paid you better

by the way this time it looks better than 20 years back under Paul Keating morgage rates were 17 - 18 %

sob :(

Ahhhhh but doesn't he sound good :)
Rudd is the best thing to have happened to labour!

Cheaterparts, i'm sorry mate, I really don't understand your point or position.
Both current labour and prev lib govt recognise(d) trades skill shortage.
Manufacturing became a victim of open trade. Basically, can't make the stuff competitively and maintain required wages for std of living. It's inevitable. UK and Europe and US etc all recognise this, some managed the transition better than others. Problem for US is car industry. If people in Aus were prepared to pay more for the goods made in Aus may have had a chance.
US is down...that stuffed UK and Europe. China goes down - Aus is well and truly stuffed and no handouts will avoid it. The Ch economy makes Aus economy look like small change.

Overall - Senate are going to have amedments before this gets through I reckon..

the problem there is that if we bought Aus our std of living would decline needing higher wages
as for my point ? and as for my position like the rest of us
up shit creek I guess

Its funny that everyone says they'll just spend it on car parts and stuff. My brother got the $1000 donation a few months back and went straight down to the beach for a week and got hammered. Apparently that didn't stimulate the retail side of things much, but I'm guessing that Cartlon United were pretty happy about it.

I think my $950 will go towards furniture for my new place, or maybe some new hockey gear. I think the hockey gear is more urgent :p

You and me both. I didn't mind old Johnny if I'm honest.

As for the money: Clutch kit + front & rear anti-roll bars. Thanks Krudd!

Got to say I love having no commitments or debt, where I can just get $950 and throw it at a car. I wonder how much longer it'll stay like this!
